"Only a fool of a man will let you completely out of his life."
—Distraught completely hunts down Lisa's features as she sat down the side of her bed. Her tired agonistic eyes linger on the floor as occasional tears accompanied her red cheeks.
Rose sat down not too far away from her watching over her state with silence. She wanted to comfort her—she had no clue what to say however.
"I-" she stammered. "I-I know nothing I'd say will make you feel better. Reality will still be reality for you but-" she paused looking for the right words as she scooted closer, warming her hand up against hers. "But I know just how strong of a women you are. I haven't met you in the best circumstances but I know and seen enough."
"I've seen the dedicated, woke and sweet soul you own. You sacrificed a lot for your kids and I don't think you understand just how much you mean to Grayson." Rose smiled heartwarmingly, earning surprisingly enough one back from Lisa.
"I know," Lisa sniffed lightly. "I did all of this for him. I don't want anything from this life," she shook her head being filled with weeps once again. "Nothing. I just want him happy. I'm not asking for much. I don't demand for much."
A tear or two couldn't help graze down from Rose's pupils. "I do too."
"Please keep him happy," desperate cries were let out as Lisa grabbed her by the shoulders in eager sadness. "Please. I've never seen him smile like that in years. You're the light in this situation. Keep my baby happy."
Rose was shaken repeatedly with each word told to her as the mother reached her breaking point. Begging and dripping in desperation for Rose to do something—to maintain the happiness she supposedly provides Grayson.
"I promise." Rose bobbed her head eagerly, almost as if assuring the mother her words. "I'm not leaving him. He could rip me apart—break me, and I'd still fall back into his arms."
"He wouldn't do that," Lisa paused calming down her state as she wiped sloppily her cheeks. "He loves you a little too much."
Here we go again. Each time Rose hears Lisa's assumptions about Grayson loving her, her stomach drops and her heart contracts just enough to bloom hope within her. Does he love me?
"I mean the closest thing he ever told me was that I was... his wonderwall?" She says it more in a confused manner as a puzzled look clanged to her face. "He said it to me several times. It's his way of saying it without really...saying it," she whispered almost as if she's talking to herself.
"You're thinking too much about it," Grayson's mother remarked noticing how taken off into her thoughts she was getting. "Words don't prove anything, but it doesn't take a fool to see it."
Rose hesitantly initiated eye contact, sending over a fake smile as she nodded slowly. She didn't know why the topic bothered her a little whenever it was discussed.
Surely, she didn't need words for confirmation but it's nice to hear your lover repeatedly and endlessly tell you just how much love they feel for you. It's nice to hear it getting said back.
She couldn't count the amount of times she fantasized about this moment happening. Him staring lovingly down at her with all his beauty and glory, muttering out three words she dies to hear him tell her as he caresses every inch of her body, telling her he finally believes in love.
