"I'm so afraid of losing this heart that's finally moving."

With a racing heart and anxiousness clouding the atmosphere, Grayson's eyes met his old neighborhood—the same one he grew up and built memories in. Some bad, some terrible. It was also the place where his talent kicked off, driving him to where he was today with art.

It was bittersweet.

The weather was gloomy, dry and plain. As if the universe was feeling for Grayson, being in touch with his mood and overall emotions that were nothing but a mess.

He looked out the window with a furrowed expression the whole car ride. Ethan couldn't help but steal glances here and then over his brother.

Rose somehow failed to notice Grayson's unstable state, being busy in her thoughts. The words Ethan spoke to her before the ride, the doubts and negative outcomes he seemed to have couldn't help but transfer to her too.

The whole car ride, a deathly silence took place, like a funeral was present and no one dared to mutter out a word.

"Guys, we're here," after almost multiple attempts of grabbing both of their attention, Ethan both snapped them out of their destructive thoughts. He seemed the only stable one in this situation.

"Come on," Rose whispered to Grayson, gliding  her hand over his arms for comfort before getting out of the car.

Grayson's steps felt heavy, like his legs were almost glued in place and couldn't move properly.

Just as all of them got out of the car, their luggage came out one by one. The front door of their childhood home became undone as their mother came in frame.

Her smile got wide along with her arms, welcoming her sons in nothing but enthusiasm. "My babies!"

Ethan rushed like a little boy, engulfing his mother with an affectionate hug. "I missed you," he simple stated.

Rose watched over the scene with half a smile on. She still couldn't comprehend how Ethan was reacting differently than Grayson.

Her first reaction was to look over her lover, seeing pain in his eyes and hesitance. He missed his mom, he's just still worked up over her decision.

"Go," she pushed him lightly, encouraging the emotions out of him.

He gulped down, approaching the two now. His mother took notice almost immediately, frowning at the drained features that accompanied him.

"Oh Grayson," she held his face towards her shoulder, wrapping her petite figure around his. "Hey mom," he inaudibly greeted her.

Watching over the scene, Rose took notice in the missing of the father. Where was he? Why isn't he here welcoming his sons?

"And you must be Rose," her thoughts were interrupted as the middle aged women bombarded her vision.

"Yes, I am. It's very nice to finally meet you," she answered her back politely before being taken in a motherly hug. "You look prettier in person!"
