Charlotte stood infront of Sadie holding the tip of the knife against Sadie's stomach. They stared into each other's eyes. Charlotte gulped.
Sadie suddenly smiled. "I never thought my best friend would actually stab me in the back. Or should I say the front. Either way," Sadie frowned and tears filled her eyes again, the peace she had felt being squeezed out of her heart like water out of a sponge,"it's still you."
Charlotte fought the tears in her eyes.
"You knew me before all of this-"
"You're right," a tear ran down her cheek, "I did. And I had to watch you change. You deserve this. I wish you could suffer some other way but we have to stop you. You're a sick sociopath and a murderer."
"Sounds to me like you're describing yourself."
Charlotte's eye twitched and hot rage filled her skull.
"I was changing and Poppy was helping me," Sadie wept, bowing her head. Her shock and fear ran down her cheeks and nose. "I was becoming a better person...," Sadie stopped crying and shook her head staring at the floor. "I actually wanted to change-"
"Liar," Charlotte glared at her. "You only get worse. You never change for the better, Sadie," Charlotte shook her head. "Jenna made me realize that...You can never be good."
Sadie looked down, her already confused and high brain letting her best friend's words brainwash her.
"You were...," Charlotte looked down, tears pooling her eyes, "smart...and happy. And then you just switched. You just turned into this angry person. And I tried," Charlotte wept. "I tried to get you back. But you just wouldn't forgive her and move on. I wish I believed you, but it's too late now. I...," Charlotte shook her head," I can't trust that you won't change-"
Sadie suddenly walked closer to Charlotte, allowing the knife to poke her stomach. "If you honestly believe I'm not changing...," she stared into her best friend's eyes, trembling as if already in hell, "then do it." Sadie held her breath.
Charlotte stared at Sadie, watching the sweat run down her face. Sadie did look different. It was clear that she was trying to change. But Charlotte knew Sadie. And Sadie's kind persona wouldn't last long. Charlotte's heart filled with cement as it began to harden. Furious tears spilled down her cheeks and she stepped forward, forcing the knife into her best friend's stomach. Sadie, shocked, looked down at her now pierced stomach with wide eyes. Mason and Charlie let go of her arms. She leaned against Charlotte putting her hands on Charlotte's shoulders.
Charlotte began to panic. "Oh God." Charlotte quickly pushed her off.
Sadie hit the floor, laying on her side. She looked down at the knife with wide eyes, then began to pull herself on her arm out across the floor. They watched as she held the knife in her stomach and dragged herself on to the stage. A strail of crimson was left between them. They avoided it and followed her.
Sadie laid on her back staring at the ceiling. Blood seeped from the corner of her mouth as she choked. "I said I was sorry...I'm so sorry," she wept.
They stared from afar.
Charlotte gulped down her tears with wide eyes. She shook her head looking at the others for their reactions. They were doing the same, waiting for the other person to crack.
"Oh my God," Charlie said softly, dropping to his knees.
Jenna glared at him through teary eyes.
"Charlie," Mason walked over to him, trying to pull him to his feet. "We have to leave-"
"Don't touch me," Charlie pushed his brother's hands away. "We're murderers."
