The next morning Poppy set out to school with a list of things she needed to do.

1. Apologize to Liam
2. Cut Jenna off
3. Tell Fisher how she felt about what he had done to her

She walked up to Liam and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry."

"You shouldn't be apologizing," he shut his locker. "You and Fisher were right. We were being hypocrites. We should tell Jenna how we feel."

Poppy pursed her lips. "We should."

"Poppy?"

Chills went down her spine. She quickly turned to the soft voice behind her.

Fisher smiled at her. "Hi."

She frowned. "Fisher, I'm sorry but, I don't think I wanna hang out with you anymore."

His smile wiped off. "Why not?"

"Because you left me on the stairs talking to myself-"

"That's the thing," he chuckled," I walked up the stairs talking to you."

Liam rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"I thought you were walking behind me."

"What?" Poppy felt relief fill her chest.

Fisher's eyes met Sadie's across the hallway.

She nodded at him.

He frowned then he held Poppy's hand in both of his. He could feel her pulse speeding up in her wrist.

She stared at him with wide eyes.

"Poppy," he gulped,"I would never do that to you. But I'm sorry you thought I did."

"It's...it's Okay," Poppy shrugged and smiled, trying to contain herself. "You didn't mean for it to happen."

The bell rang.

"We have math together," Fisher smirked," right?"

"We do," Poppy nodded .

"Then we can sit together."

Liam shook his head then walked away leaving them behind.

Fisher ignored him and started to walk to class with Poppy. He held her hand.

She furrowed her brows and quickly let go.

"I'm sorry," Fisher turned away from her, feeling his cheeks burn up with embarrassment and annoyance. "Why did I do that? Desperate much?"

"It's okay. I just don't think we should...hold hands like that if we're not..you know."

"Dating?"

Poppy bit her lip and nodded.

"I've never dated anyone before...or had many girls as friends."

"I haven't dated either. My parents think I should wait till I'm older..like nineteen or twenty. When I have goals set, you know?"

"I can relate...But I think we're mature enough-," Fisher felt a lump in his throat. Something was warning him to stop.

Poppy shot a shocked look at him. "Are you saying-"

"No," he quickly shook his head. "I mean...maybe."

Poppy turned away.

"I mean, if we did...it would be going against our parents. Maybe we should wait like they want us to."

Poppy didn't budge.

They got to their class and she walked inside.

Before Fisher could walk in, Sadie grabbed his arm and pulled him aside from the door. "Ask.. her..out," she whispered watching the hallway clear.

"I can't."

"It's easy. Just tell her you like her and that you should go out-"

"But I don't. And she clearly likes me. I don't want to hurt her feelings."

"She doesn't have to know-"

The door suddenly opened. Poppy stepped outside and Sadie quickly walked in.

"Are you okay?" Poppy looked up at Fisher. "I thought you were with me when I walked in-"

"Maybe we should go out," he blurted out feeling regretful on his last word.

Poppy held her breath and furrowed her brows. "Really? I thought you said-"

"I know..what I said. But life's short, right?"

Poppy tried not to smile. She shrugged. "Okay."

"Okay," Fisher forced a smile on his face. "So, I guess we're dating."

"Yeah. I guess so."

"Great."

They stood in an awkward silence.

Fisher suddenly felt the urge to run away. "I have to..pee."

Poppy giggled. "I'll save you a seat."

He quickly rushed off.

Poppy walked back into the classroom with a smile. She walked over to her seat and sat down.

"What are you smiling about?" Liam looked at her.

"He asked me out," Poppy grinned.

Sadie smirked behind them.

Fisher stood in the bathroom taking deep breaths. What was he doing hurting someone like that? He was being stupid.

His phone vibrated in his pocket. He took it out and looked at it.

Sadie: Good job

He shook his head. He couldn't call it off now or Poppy would hate him. He walked out of the bathroom, then into the classroom, finding his seat beside her.

She head a bright look on her face. A slight smile and blissful eyes.

He stared at her. Maybe dating her wouldn't be that bad.

She looked at him, fiddling her pencil and smiled.

He smiled back then he looked at the teacher at the front of the classroom.
