It was the start of his first second year. Sophomore year was going to be the start of Midnight now going to a 'Public school'. Before, he had been going to a guardian school. And only last year, he decided he wanted to take on a human life.
"Midnight, son, are you sure you want to go here? I mean-." His mother began, Midnight shook his head, stopping her from speaking as she looked at him while pulling into the small drive space. She shifted the handle to put the car in park, looking back to her son, who started to seep out of the car. "Mid!" Midnight turned to her attention, "Just..Call if something goes wrong, okay? And no magic and-."
Midnight held his hand up, stopping her mid sentence, lips pressing back together. "Got it..Day will be fine." Fawn sent another wave before the door shut. Soon, her car pulling out of the driveway. Midnight began to walk towards the doorway, he did take attention to the scenery though; trees surrounded the place, flower bushes bordering the edges of the doors. One thing that was different, was the amount of people. When Midnight had gone to what he had called, "Guardian school" for junior high and elementary, there wasn't as many people. He walked towards the open doors, starting to walk into the full hallway. Unlike his other schools, there was many doors to enter into different rooms, classrooms. More than he had ever seen. The hall was crowded with other teens, very much like Midnight's age. Besides the fact that they were human, funny enough, Midnight could smell the human on them. It was a weird thing, but made almost the most amount of sense. He pulled his class times from his pocket, it was a map of the school, not just that, it also had his class periods printed on it. He looked closer onto the pink slip, seeing he had History first.
Looking more into the map, the boy sighed, walking towards the area where the history room had been labeled as. Luckily, that room was close to where he had been, so he entered, swiftly opening the door with the turn of his hand. As he walked in, some different faces started to look at him, the teacher also glancing towards him with curiosity. "Oh another student! Come in." She hopped off the desk and made her way towards Midnight, putting a hand to his back and leading him further into the classroom. He continued this until they reached the middle of the class, the front. Where everyone could see him. His lip quivered when the teacher smiled up at him and said, "So, introduce yourself."
He fondled with his hands, snapping back up to look at the 12 students lined up in front of him. "Uh..I'm Midnight..and-d I am new to this school."
"Fresh meat." One kid whispered, flipping his head back to look at another student. His chuckle not emitting a response from the other. "Nice to meet you Midnight." Her hand fell from his back and to her side, Midnight walking to sit. To his surprise, there was a seat left in the way back, which to him was a immediate blessing. The class started and ended in a swoop, Midnight getting a list of supplies for this upcoming class. He knew school wasn't going to be easy, but with the amount of stuff he needed, it wasn't going to be any easier.
But this was what he wanted, a normal life. With a normal school. How hard could it be?
