The morning alarm went off loud in Midnight's ears as he suddenly awoke. After the encounter with his mother and a long talk, he went back to sleep for the remaining time. Which sadly, wasn't very long.

"Hey Mid!" Dawn was at his door shortly after he had slammed the snooze button to try and go back to sleep. Unfortunately his head still hurt, making it hard to stay awake. Midnight blinked his eyes open, rolling them before sitting up. "What?" He asked groggily.

"School idiot." She knocked the door.. "You can't avoid it forever." It was true. He couldn't. 'But I wish I could.' Midnight thought. He lifted himself from the bed, walking across the room to his closet. Already having a outfit set was better, made sure he wouldn't be late. Not again especially. It would be the forth time in the year. 'How am I going to survive human school if I can't even get to school in time.'

Midnight pulled on his long sleeve grey t-shirt and black flannel, one that had a collar to hide his bruises. Walking to the drawer beside his closet, Midnight snatched out a pair of light grey, rugged jeans and pulled them to his waist. "Ok.." He thought out loud. "Dressed fully..shoes downstairs by the door..bag has all my books in it." He looked back behind his bed. 'What am I forgetting?'

"Midnight Harper Woods! Get your ass down here!" Dawn screamed. "I have to be at the deer fairy base in an hour!"

Midnight rushed to look in his bag once again, glancing around the room. "I should have everything.." He grabbed his bag to rush down the stairs, closing the zipper as he tumbled down the steps. "Sorry," He said quickly. "I thought I forgot something.."

"You always forget something." Dawn scoffed. "Now come on, let's go."

When Midnight arrived at school, he rushed to Mr.Kelve's room, to study and to get some extra help. He couldn't fail. No matter what. The fact that he might have to go back scared him, shaking or having a panic attack almost.

Apparently, Mr.Kelve saw him struggling, lifting from his desk to check on the boy. "Midnight?" He questioned, looking at his shaking form. "You alright kid?" 'I don't want to say what's really wrong..' Midnight thought after a few moments of silence. 'I can't..I'm not allowed to tell the guardians secret.'

More moments passed, until Mr.Kelve asked the same question again. Only he was more pressing this time. He seemed curious. But Midnight couldn't tell why. 'Is it because I'm 'unique'. like he had said before?' "Yeah," He gulped after replying. "Just trying to get my work done."

"I can see your working hard," Mr.Kelve kneeled next to his desk, gripping on the sides of the small table. Having the sympathetic look he had made him look upset. "But it will be a long time before your grades are up, maybe not until after February."

"I thought you said--"

"I know what I said, Midnight." He interrupted. "You will have passed the first trimester, by a landslide. But.." Mr.Kelve paused, rubbing a hand over his chin. "you still need your credits for all of your classes. I will be here to help, not always but as much as I can." Midnight looked back down to his packet to stop eye contact. "I-I just w-want to do better," The boy explained with a stutter, holding his head up with pinched fingers. He sighed, then continued. "And I am not sure I can if I am not..well, improving well--or fast enough."

"It's not just that," Mr.Kelve explained. "You need to fix a few passed in papers. And not just that but--we need to make sure you meet the standard. And you're not meeting them all." Midnight nodded after the teacher finished. Standards..How many were there. He desperately wanted to ask, but when he opened his mouth to speak a knock was at the door. Students, specifically the next class. Many were piled against the door, as if something was coming for them. 'Why are they even doing that?'

Mr.Kelve sent a short smile before standing back up, skipping towards the door to let everyone in. One group that caught his eye was the bullies, which is the name Midnight called their group. He still wasn't sure of their names. 'Great, they are here. I hoped they would skip..'

They had only skipped a few times throughout the first trimester. And they still were passing. He sighed, throwing the packet back into his sketchbook and throwing that in his bag. Midnight was about to take out his binder for english, but a small slip of paper fell out. It was crumpled, rugged and covered in dirt.

'My study guide!' He thought happily. Joy filled him while looking over the entire front. True it was dirty and crumpled, but it would do if he could read it. But...-he finally turned it over.

On the back were--words. Seemed to be scribbled with pen. Harsh words mainly like: Loser, Bitch, Faggot, only were a few that he saw, or could read due to his vision turning fuzzy. 'What?'

"Midnight." Mr.Kelve's voice echoed from the front of the classroom. He quickly glanced up, "Pay attention please."

Midnight nodded, taking the paper from his other hand and folding it, stuffing it in the side pocket of his bag. 'What--who--was it them?' Midnight looked up to where the bullies were. 'It has to be..but-why?'
