It burned.
His entire body burned with a fire he didn't even know. It was scary. For once he felt real terror. He felt afraid before, many times, especially with Levi. And as a child, being a half-blood. But this was different. This was a terror feeling. Not fear, but terror.
Midnights eyes kept closed. He didn't know where he was, he didn't want to know; all he knew was it was a dark room. A room with the smell of blood. The smell made his nose sting, like he had been hit.
He could even taste blood. It was gurgling and circling through his mouth and around his tongue. His lip felt wet, and his head throbbed with a worse pain than after his recent vision.
He started to hear women talking, but it was faint, making it hard to hear with his ears ringing.
"You...have...?" Is all he could hear from beside him. "Yes." Another voice said. "He's asleep now. Will she be back before he is awake?"
"There is a possibility." The first voice replied.
"Well, let's hope not. He's powerful and you know that." She hissed. He heard fabric move, assuming the second one grabbed the first. "She'll kill us if we don't keep an eye on him. He could kill any of us if we tried."
The first pushed off. Her coat ruffling. "He doesn't even know how to use his magic. How could he?"
Midnight heard the sound of clicking heels on the floor as well as feeling the vibration. The new woman cleared her throat. "You two seem to be getting along." She cackled soon after. Her laugh seemed familiar. 'Is that..?' His thoughts bubbled.
"Zara." The first chirped. "We got the boy."
"Good. That's very good." She laughed happily, skidded her voice towards the end. He heard a knife seeth. The one he saw in her belt in the vision. He heard it scratch against her teeth. "He should wake up soon. I made sure no one saw."
"Did you kill anyone?"
"No." She replied. "I didn't have to. No one cared for his pathetic ass."
He heard her steps approach him. Her heels made painful scratches on the ground. She was close now Then, he felt her grab his chin. "He's so small. How's a tiny kid like him going to do my bidding?"
"You'll have to train him." The first voice replied.
"I know you're awake." She edged near his ear with the whisper. "If you don't open you're eyes it'll only get worse."
But..
He was scared.
Did she know that?
He blinked his eyes, hardly squinting them together. She was standig above him, her leather clothes blending in with the dark of the place he was in. Her green eyes shown at him. "What--What a-mm I d-doing here?" He stammered, spitting blood out of his mouth as he spoke.
"Aw. You thought we didn't know about your little leaders plan? Cute." She threw his face to the side. "We planned that all. We knew it would lead you. We knew it would trigger a vision. We purposely planned it to get you to where you are now."
"Why?" He tried to edge his eyes up but it hurt to even move his head. Zara knelled down in front of him. Her green eyes were so piercing it was scary. "I have a plan, that's why."
"Does it have to do with the battle?"
"Why would I tell you?" She sneered. "A little deer fairy?"
"I'm part of you too Zara." He looked up this time. "You know you can't change that. You've known me since I was a baby."
"And that means I also know how to defeat you as well." She came back closer, her hand hiding in black sparkles. An arrow appeared to the side, he knew what kind of arrow it was. Poison. For Nature Guardians. "You don't want to test me."
Midnight couldn't feel his hands, but he tried to bring them to blast Zara. Somehow, only to get her away.
His hands felt cold, and as he pulled them he heard the sounds of a metal chain being yanked. He looked back. Zara started to laugh. "Aw." Her lip curled down. "You thought we would leave you roam freely..?" She pulled the arrow near his face. He felt a boiling hot feeling on his cheek. Not a good one. It almost felt on fire. He yelped when she pressed it closer. It didn't change, her smile only grew. "You see? I have something that can hurt you.." She laughed. "but not me."
She stood up again, stuffing the arrow in her pocket. She turned towards the two people he had heard before. The didn't look 'evil' looking. One looked orange and the other yellow. "Send someone to look after him. I have a mess to clean back at the deer fairies."
Midnight tried to pull at the chains, but his arms couldn't break free. It was tight; almost cutting off his circulation. He soon could see another person's feet in front of him. "This is the boy?" She grabbed his hair. Pulling his head over she looked all over his face. "He's strong." She whsipered to herself.
"Indeed he is." The first, the orange one, stood next to her. His eyes still fluttered to stay open. "Zara told me to watch him."
"Then watch."
He felt weak. Especially after that arrow burned his face. No one could heal him either. 'They don't have healers..' Midnight swallowed a dry lump in his throat. 'They kill all of them as soon as they find out about their powers.' Midnights eyes couldn't stay open anymore, a tired feeling washed over him. The entire world sounded muffled. Then quiet.
~~~~~
He hoped it was a dream. A nightmare. He hoped he had just fainted at the border for some odd reason and now he was at home in his bed. He was partly awake. Only enough to know where he was.
And he wasn't home.
The blood smell was still in his nose, his mouth, the burning on his cheek from the poison. Not just that but the metal cups around his hands.
Midnight blinked open his eyes. Below him was the same floor, same chains, same everything. He hadn't moved.
There was small voices in the background, but they were far away and hard to hear exactly what they were saying. Until they started to get closer.
"He should be ready soon. We only hurt him slightly so he could be drowsy when he arrived." The voice, which he recogized to be his 'guard' spoke first. "We didn't want to shoot him with the arrows just yet."
Another voice, the 'orange' one scoffed. "Why not. Zara doesn't treat us fairly anyway. If we killed him we'd be the talk of the century. We'd become leaders."
"And kill Zara?" His guard said doubtfully. "We'd be dead before we even tried." Midnight noticed their feet as he slightly looked up. "I think he's awake." The orange one stated.
"Hm." His guard edged closer. "I know you're awake." She put two fingers below his chin. "We have some training to do."
"Acually." Zara's voice entered the room. "I have some training to do with him."
