Midnight went home with an off feeling in his stomach. Like a pit, but endless. An endless pit that might devour him whole. Of course, it would who was he kidding?Kurt--he cared. But that is not what he was thinking about. He was thinking about how he was trying, that being the key word, to confess his feelings. Even if he had somewhat already done that while he was drunk. Maybe that's why he even came to the reunion, to confess. But he didn't have the nerve to.
Maybe he knew.
Maybe he knew how he felt.
Maybe he knew about...
Fawn walked him inside, hanging behind him until she had to open the door. "How was the hangout?"
"With Kurt?" Midnight asked, walking inside and starting to take off his winter clothes. He slid his hat off of his head, his hair spiking up, it wasn't straight anymore, his curls had returned. He groaned and put it on the heater, as well as his jacket. "It was fine." He finally said quietly.
"Really? How's he been anyway?"
"Fine. He's been fine. Going to continue all of his guardian business and go on with his magic life." Midnight walked to the kitchen, sitting on the stool by the counter. "Lucky him."
"He really likes having a friend like you." Fawn leaned against the counter across from him. She adjusted her glasses up to the edge of her eyes. "You're a good kid."
"Yeah, right." Midnight scoffed in disbelief. HE wasn't good. Magically, hell no. Personality? No. His sister was better. She was an empath. She was the spitting image of 'a perfect child'. "Dawn's a good kid. I'm a half-blood whose other side is evil, and who can't control my powers. We're two different things."
Fawn frowned. "Doesn't change you. Midnight, you're my son. Of course you're a good kid. Dawn is good too." Fawn sighed, walking to the fridge to grab a water, also grabbing on for him. She threw it to him and continued. "You both are different. Twins are always different. Look at Leah and April. They're two different people." He noticed his mother looking towards the photo of the sisters on the wall. They were in front of the house, smiling at each other with Leah in a state of almost crippling laughing. "But two different people doesn't mean one is worse than the other. You both have separate qualities. No matter what those qualities are. "
"Right but-"
"No. You need to stop doubting yourself. You're going through things, and that's okay. You will get away from them. Don't let emotions stop you." She clutched his hand. "You will control your powers, just like I did."

Midnight wasn't sure how to feel about what Fawn had said. Dawn was the better twin. Yeah they were different, but Dawn was still better. 'She was always the better twin. They knew about her before she was born. I was just the extra.' Midnight swallowed. 'She can control her powers, hell, she has been able to since she was 6. She's pure good..'
He was in his room with a sketchbook in front of his lap when he sparked an idea. Vision. Maybe he could have one now..he was offered to help the deer fairies, might as well practice now. His hands pressed down on the paper. Previously he had drawn a forest scenery, and wondered if maybe the inspiration was from a deep waiting vision.
Or his brain trying to tell him something.
His fingers walked gently along the graphite drawing. Just smooth paper with few lined bumps. He felt the trees. The leaves he had drawn. His mind was recreating the image.
He suddenly felt like air. Like he was flying. Then he was sinking. Into his bed, underwater. He couldn't breath. It was dark. Like all of these 'things' started. The sound was a constant ring, piercing his ears.
But he couldn't feel like he was breathing. It wasn't cold or warm. Just. Nothing this time. He reached out into the endless dark. His hand landed on a branch. But he still couldn't see it.
Leaves weren't on the trees. It didn't feel like there was any life on the trees. It felt dead, dry. Alone. Abandoned.
The darkness was still there when he started to walk, his feet were light. The airy feeling. It was like he was dead. He heard a sudden gasp for air. It wasn't him.
"Hello?" He looked into the dark. Nothing. "Hello?"
Nothing.
"Hello?!"
Still that echo in the dark. But the trees. The tree was gone when he tried to find it. It had completely dissipated. The breathing got faster.
"Who.."
"Midnight."
His name. Who was calling his name?! He couldn't tell, the breathing wasn't anyone he knew. "Who..who are you? How do you know me?!"
"Who I was does not matter now child." It was a women. She sounded mid-aged. And clearly she was dead. Was. She had already died.
"I have only knew you through sight." 'What?'
Midnight shook his head, it felt light, almost like he was fainting. "What do you mean?"
"It doesn't matter now. I have come to tell you."
"Tell me what?" He tried to find the voice. He still couldn't see but if he heard her maybe he could follow.
"The air is dying Midnight..."
The air? The air is dying? How would the air be dying. The air couldn't die. Midnight blinked. "What do you mean? The air can't die. The air is there. Plain and simple."
"The air is dying.." She repeated. He felt his nerves get even more tense. "What do you mean?" He snapped. "Please explain to me!"
"The choice is yours. Put out the fire or let it burn. For only you can ride out the flames and find the breathing tree." Him. Only he could. "What does that mean? How am I the only one!?" He fell to his knees. His knees scraping against the darkness. "I can't be. What am I saving? Fire?" He had so many questions. They were pouring out of his mouth.
"Not now child. You must wake first. You must make the choice. For only you can ride out the flames."
"How?" Now it was quiet. He didn't hear a sense sound when he spoke. Now it was dark. Now it was lonely.
And he still wasn't sure what it meant.
