The school day ended before he could even comprehend it. His classes were fairly easy, at this point at least. Then again, it was the first day, so nothing should be hard yet. When he arrived outside, his mother had already been there. This was perfect for him.
Stress was already crazy, he was trying to avoid guardian stuff as much as possible. And school work was even more shitty.
And yes, he had work on the first day; which in Midnight's mind was fairly unusual. It wasn't hard, but the fact he'd be getting so much work, was terrible.
"How was the first day?" Fawn asked as Midnight opened the back seat doors to throw his bag inside, then going to the passenger seat to sit. Fawn waited for a response from her son before starting to drive, annoyingly, he replied, "Fine, I guess." Fawn placed her hand to the lever, pulling it and starting to drive. "Did you make friends?"
"No." Truth be told, Midnight didn't really want to make friends. No one would get him, and he couldn't tell them about his powers, which in fact, he couldn't control properly. If he tried to use his magic, it would screw everything up.
Like he always had, screwed things up.
The car had pulled into the driveway before Midnight could really know, he was so imbedded in his thoughts that he hadn't even payed attention to the road ahead of him. Fawn pulled it into park, releasing her hands from the wheel and squeezing on her sons hand. "It's all going to be alright, in due time."
"Everything is fine." Midnight lied, keeping his eyes fixed to his lap. Fawn frowned, practically knowing he was lying. He always did this, he really never talked about his feelings. He was always shut off.
Midnight shook his head, opening the passenger door to step out. He started walking before looking back to his mother. "I promise, everything is fine."

As he walked inside, he heard the almost silent humming of his slightly older sister. Despite being twins, Dawn had been born first; so she qualified it as being 'older'. He never really cared about it.
He tried to avoid an encounter with her, wanting to be alone. But against what he wanted, she looked over to him and spoke, "Hey." Midnight walked into the kitchen, standing across the room from her. "Ello." He sent a light wave, trying to walk out. Dawn grabbed his sleeve.
"Hey! I was still talking with you."
"Um," He stepped back to his previous spot. "Okay?"
Dawn smiled with the right corner of her mouth and sighed, going back to her spot as well, "How was," She held up quotations before continuing. " 'Human' school, as you call it."
Midnight shrugged, dropping his school bag onto the chair leg. "Fine."
"Fine?" Dawn questioned.
He nodded, pretty--not reassuring. Sitting on the table, he shrugged again. "Well, yeah."
His sister shook her head, frowning with her eyebrows crossed down. "Alright..Anyway, school for me was fine. Worked with a deer fairy."
"Really?" He asked, fascinated by this. Funny enough, he had never worked with a deer fairy, but had seen plenty in his lifetime. Dawn grinned and gave Midnight a cookie, nodding fast. "Yep!" "Well that's great. I should get upstairs, homework." Midnight snatched his bag before skipping off. Gladly, he did before Dawn could do anything, even say anything.
He just needed time alone.
Just this once.
