"Delilah?" Midnight stepped up to his aunt. "You wanted to talk?" She turned. Her green eyes were bright. They had not been in contact in forever. Maybe she missed him after the almost-year of not seeing him. 'Who even would?'
Her smile was filled with happiness. "Midnight." She shook his hand. "Yes I did want to see you." She looked around, he thought maybe it was to make sure no one else was listening. "Kurt told you I was being a healer assistant right?" He nodded. She continued. "Well, while I have been working, I've noticed something has been off."
"Off?" He questioned. 'Off?' He asked himself in his head. 'What would be off?'
"Like an evil type energy all along our sick bay it's--" She shook her head. "Weird."
"I thought maybe it was a false reading or something to do with you because of--." 'My blood' He wanted to say. But he didn't want to make the situation worse. "You know. But when I talked to Cedar to get the guards to check it out it was weird. The scent was--unworldly. And they knew it wasn't you."
"It's not like it's alien." He scoffed. "Aliens don't exsist."
"At this point I don't know what not to believe." She shrugged. "And as an honorary member of the deer fairies I feel like an idiot. I'm not even sure you would know, you haven't trained."
"You're not an idiot."
"Okay. Maybe not but--I wanted to ask if you'd help me."
"Help you?" His tone came out rude, like a rude type of confused. "How can I do that. I can hardly get through the borders without the guards trying to cut my head off."
"They won't this time because you'll be with me." He hesitated to say anything. His mouth was opening and closing, repeating that process. He didn't want to invest in the magic world again. Especially after the pain of regection he had been through already. And the threats of execution.
"Come on Midnight." He put a hand on his shoulder. "Do it for the Deer Fairies. Do it for my sister--your mother."
He sighed. He really didn't want to. But--would it actually help? "Mm--fine."
She smiled, pulling him in for a quick hug, then blinking apologeticlly. "Thank you." And she walked off, going back to talk to Fawn. Probably updating her on his decision. The one he'd rather said no to.

Midnight went back to look for Kurt after Dalilah left back to talk to Fawn. She did keep looking back at him every few minutes. They were probably talking about him. Kurt was sitting on the steps outside when Midnight finally found him.
He was drinking another beer. "So." Midnight spoke up, moving to be next to his old friend.
"SOooo." Kurt slurred. "Someone came out to join a little drinking party outside?" Kurt took a big gulp as Midnight sat next to him. He shook his head. "Nah. I don't drink." He tried to sound polite.
"Don't you? Its the best way to have fun."
Midnight scoffed. "No. I don't." His voice turned harsh.
Kurt finished his can and placed it on the edge of the stairs. His fingers fidgeted on his lap. He gulped, then sighed deeply. "Why did you leave me?"
"Leave you?" Midnight didn't understand. He couldn't understand. When did he leave him? He left the entire guardian school, not him. "Yeahhh." He suddenly laughed sarcasticlly. "You knew how I felt and you just--" He could hear his voice turn to a sob. "You just left."
"Kurt I don't understand what you mean." He breathed heavily. "You never felt any different about me than a close friend."
"Wellllll." He looked at Midnight with his heavy head. "You know I never told you." He started. Kurt was about to finish, until Midnight heard the ping of his phone. 'Nick not now!' He wanted to yell at his phone. He pulled it out of his pocket, typed the code then opened his messages. He hoped Kurt wouldn't look over his shoulder and look at his messages.
