His entire body shot up with a jolt. His chest heaved a thick breath. His eyes felt weak. The slight light of the hallway burned his gaze.
'What was that?'
The feeling of the crash was so..real. He was there. Fully there. But why did he have a vision? Of all times to get a vision. Why now? All the times he wanted one, he got one when he didn't want it. And the vision didn't even make sense. People yelling in a car. And the accident. That's all he could know.
'But what does it mean? It's not like I'm driving yet. Was it the past?'
It had to have been. It couldn't have been now. He didn't drive..It didn't make complete sense. Midnight felt his nerves ease. Sleepiness again washed over him. He cuddled back under his covers, hoped for a restful sleep, and no more weird, strange dreams.

Days went by. Well, it felt like centuries with the boring days. Getting up, having stale muffins, drawing, arguing with Lilly, then sleep. The same thing all day every day it seemed like. Until the twenty-ninth. About three days after the celebration for Christmas. Now everything had faded into New Years'.
And today, apparently, Midnight had to go to a 'family gathering'. Luckily it was on Fawn's side so he wouldn't have to meet Lilly's family. Which, he had met before. Only once. When he was a kid.
He was told that it didn't go well.
At all.
Midnight was slipping on his black shoes for the day when someone pressed a knock to his door. "Hey." His mother's soft voice entered his ears.
"Hi." He quickly spat out. Tying the lacing on his shoes. "What's up.?"
"I just wanted to talk."
"About?" He looked up slightly. Fawn's eyes were on his arms. Bright red. That's probably what caught her attention.
"I just wanted to thank you. For--being mostly nice to Lilly lately. She's just concerned." Fawn sat next to him. "You know how she is."
"A selfish bitch? Yeah, I know." He chuckled at his comment.
"Midnight she's just worried about your magic. You know that." He was surprised that she didn't comment on him calling her a bitch. 'Maybe she agrees.'
"Yeah and guess what? She's also afraid of me!" He stood up from his bed and walked over to his closet, shifting through the hoodies until he stopped at one, one of the ones that Lilly had got him. He didn't care it was that he just wanted something to wear over his arms.
Fawn was still at his bed when he exited. "Right so." He stood in front of her. "Family gathering?"
She nodded. Quietly, she muttered, "Yep."
~~~~~
The ride there was boring as ever. Dawn blabbing with their mother and Lilly about her training, Lilly being neurotic and scolding Midnight for his occasional snarky comments, and for apparently not taking his magic seriously. 'Like she would know."
Dawn tried to speak to him too, more taunts than scolding. He hoped they wouldn't mention anything about his cutting. It wasn't something he wanted to talk about. Something he ever wanted to talk about; and his parents or sister never understood that.
Except with him. He thought maybe if he ever worked up the courage to tell him someday, Nick would be the only person he would talk to it about. Maybe it was the comfort he felt talking with him. 'Always thinking about him..Why do I do that?'
