-*Mentions of Self-harm*-

Midnight fell asleep fairly easy after Nick said always back. It seemed to be their thing.
'Always.' Midnight repeated in his head. He thought about it when he woke up. Always.

The next morning he gladly wasn't awoken by his blaring alarm, or annoying twin sister. Or Lilly. When he looked to the window snow was falling from the light grey clouds. The ground covered in a small glittering layer. Kids were playing, snowblowers blaring. It seemed like a normal winter day. Midnight ran to his closet to dress, pulling on a tight tank top and shorts, running downstairs to the smell of chocolate muffins. He glanced into the kitchen, Leah and Fawn were there. Leah seemed to be at the oven, watching over the cooking pastries. Fawn turned, apparently hearing the stepping of the stairs. "Hey Mid." She walked over to him. "Are you Okay?"

He nodded. "Yeah. Where's Lilly." He paused to look around. "Don't tell me she's not here because of me."

"Midnight she's not here because she's stubborn. Fawn and her-" Fawn harshly turned around to put her hand up. What could they not tell him this time? "Did you guys fuck?"

"MIDNIGNT HARPER—"

He smacked his forehead. "God y'all are gross."

"And someone is more social today." Leah chuckled, pulling the tray out of the oven to placed another one in its spot. "I would expect you to stay secluded after yesterday."

Midnight thought about it. Yeah he would. If Nick didn't text him. He was the only one Midnight felt he could talk to anymore. At least, someone who wasn't invasive. Okay no he kind of was. Maybe.

"No Midnight we didn't. Lilly and I are arguing more often then not. Shes-" Fawn exhaled slowly. "Worried about you."

Midnight knocked her hands off of his shoulders, seeing her glance at his arms. Scars. Bright red scars. Anyone could notice them. "That's rich if it's about her. She didn't worry about me when she left us."

"Midnight." Leah shook he head at his comment. "Why do you have to hate her? She's apologized to you enough. And Fawn forgave her a long time ago."

"Yeah. Even Dawn forgave her."

Midnight walked to the kitchen, grabbing a muffin from the tray. He took a bite. "First of all, she kept her resurrection from us for six months. And she didn't care about you then. And she's always been afraid of me." He snorted. "I don't want to forgive her mom."

"Midnight you know why she kept it from us! She was training. Plus Leah did too. And yet you're not mad at her."

"Because she wasn't the one who thought it was a good idea to bind my evil magic like a day after she came back." He remembered that day too. Days after she came back and he accidentally used his magic, she was speaking to Fawn in secret about it. "Why should I trust her when even you, mad at her, almost agreed to binding my powers?"

"Midnight where is this coming from?"

He crossed his arms. "Never mind Okay? Just—no I won't forgive her. You wanted to know my reason. There it is." He ran his thumb across the lines on his arms. "I just want us to have a good Christmas."

Fawn clutched his shoulders again. "And we will! It's in three days. I promise nothing will ruin it." She brushed his hair out of his face. "You've been through enough already."

Leah walked up behind Fawn. "But the real question is here—"

"I wasn't—" Leah put her hand on Fawns mouth. "Shush woman."

Leah made an inner angry smile. "Who was that guy that dropped you off yesterday?"

Midnight froze. He felt his eyes widen. Nick. She saw him. This is what he didn't want. "Um.." he hesitated. "A friend who helped me with um...work."
