"Midnight?"
Midnight fluttered his eyes open, or tried to. They burned, and were throbbing with every blink. A light was in his eyes. 'Where am I?'
Trying to get up, he was abruptly stopped, being pushed back down gently. "It's okay, stay down. You were beat up pretty bad. You need to rest."
'Beat up? When? I can't remember..' But he couldn't speak. His words were caught, or just wouldn't enter his mouth. Midnight shook his head and gulped, staring up at the women above him. The nurse. She sat on her rolling chair next to him, showing a short and sympathetic smile. "You must be confused," She looked to the side, then back to him. "A--Do you remember anything?"
Midnight gulped, blinking, then shaking his head. She started speaking again. "A student found you outside..Head against a rock with blood coming from it. It looked like you hit your head and--it was bleeding pretty bad." 'So that's why it hurts,' He felt his head, where he now realized there was a thick white bandage wrapped on his head. "Uh.." Midnight tried to speak. "Wh--who found me?"
The nurse shrugged. "I'm not sure. He didn't say his name. He came in carrying you saying you were badly hurt. He seemed to really care about you."
'Who was it? I don't have and friends..which student would care so much that they carried me to the nurse?'

"Midnight!" As he walked in the house, Dawn was screaming at him to get his attention. He didn't want to talk, only to sleep. Midnight's energy was drained. His head hurt and blood was still coming from his lips as he kept chewing on them. "Midnight! Turn the fuck around!"
"What!?" He turned to look at her, irritation filling his eyes. "I don't want to fucking talk, leave me alone." Feeling bad for snapping, he looked away, filling his eyes with a soft gaze. Midnight didn't like snapping at people, but he was in pain. And it wasn't his fault that he didn't remember what happened after his homework was destroyed. Dawn walked closer, now to be right next to him. "Midnight.." She spoke quietly. "Just tell me what happened. Leah and our parents will wonder what happened to you."
Midnight shook his head. He still didn't know, the only way he could was a--vision! He could get a vision and see..but..it wasn't easy getting one. He still couldn't pick and choose what he saw. But his face lit up, and Dawn's was confused. "A vision!"
"What?"
"I can get a vision and see--"
"Mid," Dawn began. "it's not that easy you know that. You decided not to go to magic school, you were never taught." She was right. No matter how soft and sympathetic it sounded; his sister was right. He made that choice, and there was no way he could turn back from it. Every guardian there knew what they were doing, they had been there since children. He went as a child but--only until the beginning of this year. He nodded. "Yeah. I know, but I just thought I might be able to."
"I get it." Dawn said. "And I might not have prophetic or meaningful dreams and visions. Despite that, I know how hard it is to come to the realization that you can't use your magic. You get so excited because you have it, but then you can't use it." Midnight agreed, going towards the stairs. he assumed the conversation was over, but Dawn spoke again. "I can feel that you're hurt and scared. But know that I will be here. We all will be."
Midnight nodded. Trudging up the stairs tiredly and falling on his bed once he entered. His body hurt, his head mainly. The nurse did say he hit his head. 'But I don't remember,' He thought. 'Almost anything in fact.'
His head drifted to the pillow, eyes closing tightly. Everything went loose. Darkness fell upon him.
And it was silent.
