Chapter 40 - Test My Patience

FLASHBACK:

Flashes of my whole life appeared in my mind. They were really fast and they were making my head hurt.

When I learned how to ride a bike, Falling from the bike, the dinners with my friends, Dianna's first boyfriend, my 15th birthday, school, my bestfriend.

A car crash. There was lot of smoke. Fire in the car. The ambulance arriving.

"Excuse me miss. I'm sorry. They didn't make it"

My sister crying, nights wake looking at the sunrise, first love, first kiss, a ruined dinner.Laughs, Raphael, Nick, Damien.

The beach, the car, the hospital, the house.

Torture.

Everything was hitting me like a big wave. Good times and bad times.

I am sure Damien noticed me stop breathing, because he was shaking me, asking "what's wrong" and looking at me with a worried look on his big blue eyes.

My gaze met his.

- I remember everything.

CURRENTLY:

Damien's mouth was open. I think he didn't even know what to say. He was just looking at me shocked. 

His eyes were more blue than ever, he looked so awesome in the moonlight. They were scanning my face for any hint of a joke or a lie.

- Jade. You remember everything. - he whispered excitedly, with a grin on his face and pulling me into a tight hug.

His voice almost couldn't keep low, because of the excitement.

- Where's Nick? I have to see Nick. - I said.

I felt his grip loosen and him pulling away from me.

- It's late. He is probably already asleep. - Damien's voice came out quiet and restringed.

Figuring out Damien's thoughts was proven to be impossible, so I glanced at his eyes. I could see some sort of dark anger, if that really exists, but something else that I can't quite put my finger on it.

Some kind of guilt mixed with fearfulness.

DAMIEN'S POV: 

Suddenly she started crying. The little anger I felt disappeared and worry replaced it . This girl was making me utterly confused.

- Oh. Y-you can go, he is downstairs, I think... I b-bet he doesn't mind you waking him up? - It came out more like a question than an affirmation.I stuttered and immediately slapped myself mentally for stuttering. I didn't believe in what I was saying. Those are the worst lies.

" Really confused."

- It's not th-that. - she was sobbing incontrollably, I waited untill she calmed herself and speak. - I k-k-killed a man.

 If she thought that because she killed a man what did she thought of me? Or Dianna, Raphael or Nick?

Why am I caring about a person's opinion?

" Maybe because she's isn't just some person to you." A voice in my head responded quietly.

- Baby, you did what you needed to do to survive.

 - You don't understand! You weren't there! - she half-screamed / whispered, making me lose the patience and almost control of my  "dark side".

- That's right! You're right, I wasn't there! I'm going to sleep. Goodnight. - I said, my voice raising a little.
