Evan's POV
I prepared to walk the aisle with my step-dad. I made sure my white tuxedo didn't have any stains, or wasn't wrinkly. I mentally said a speech in my head for the twelfth time today.
Today is going to be a great day, and here's why, because you are you, and that's enough. Also don't worry if your hands are gonna get sweaty, because they're not gonna get sweaty, and even thinking about them getting sweaty is gonna higher the possibilities of them getting sweaty so-
"It's gonna be okay, Evan." Paul put a hand on my shoulder. He could clearly see I was nervous. I half-smiled at him, and checked my reflection in the mirror one last time.
I was marrying the love of my life, Connor Murphy.
The same Connor Murphy who pushed me down in the hallway during senior year. The same Connor Murphy who used to cut his wrists every afternoon after school. The same Connor Murphy who stopped cutting three years ago. The same Connor Murphy who realized he had a huge crush on me. The same Connor Murphy who was accepting for what I am, and who I was mean to be. (Aaaand if yooouuu giveee a-) He was marrying me today.
"That's your cue," Paul told me. I smiled nervously, and prepared to walk down the aisle with my step-dad. I walked out of the small house in the orchard, my dad holding onto my arm. I looked at his face. He was already about to spill tears out of his eyes. I looked forward. Connor Murphy was standing at the end of the aisle, wearing his best tuxedo. He gasped when he saw me, and I could almost see tears in his eyes. My mom and Ms. Murphy were both sobbing uncontrollably, into each other's arms. Jared spotted me, and gave me a thumbs up. I walked up the aisle, and Paul let me go as I reached toward Connor. Silent tears were falling out of his eyes, as he smiled so wide. I smiled at him, tears filling in my own eyes, and held his hands.

"Connor Murphy, repeat after me. I, Connor Murphy," Larry said as Connor repeated what he said. "Promise to keep Evan Hansen safe, to have and to hold."
"To have and to hold," Connor choked, squeezing my hands.
"In sickness and in wealth-" Larry said.
"In s-sickness and in hea-health." He wiped his eyes, and sniffed loudly. He and Larry continued to say things back and forth to each other about me. It came my turn, and I almost started crying saying the beautiful things.
"Do you, Connor Murphy, take Evan Hansen to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Larry asked Connor.
"I do."
"And do you, Evan Hansen, take Connor Murphy to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do," I said with confidence.
"Then, you may kiss the groom." Connor pulled me into an embrace, and kissed me on the lips. He rested his hands on the smooth curb of my hips, and drew me in closer. After a while, we separated, both blushing, and eyes filled with stars.
"There's nowhere else I'd rather be," Connor said.
"Me too." I squeezed his hands.
All we see is light.

I woke up with a start, tears coming out of my eyes. I saw the moon's luminous rays peaking out of the window.
Connor Murphy had passed away years ago.
I choked on sobs, holding them in for a long time. But somehow, everything broke right now. The walls shattered, as I buried my head in my covers. If only I had saved him. If only I knew he wanted to be a part of something. If only I knew he was hurting on the inside. If only I could have convinced that he was strong.
If only...
I tried to lay down, and fall back asleep, but I just couldn't. Maybe I needed a walk or something. I got out of bed, and checked the time on my nightstand clock. 4:51 I sighed, and pulled on some clothes and shoes. I left a note for mom.
Hey, mom, I'm just going for a walk. I'll be home soon.
-Evan
When I walked out of the door, I was greeted by the cool morning air. I started walking towards nowhere. I didn't let myself stop, until I reached the orchard.
I looked around at the bright sunrise, and thought about the time Connor and I went here.
I spotted it. A really tall oak tree. I wondered what the world might be firm up so high. One foot, after another. One branch after another. I climb higher and higher. I climb till the entire sun shines on my face.
And I looked around.
All I see is sky for forever.
