TW: drug abuse

Everyday, Evan kept returning to the hospital.

Everyday, Evan hoped for Connor to wake up.

Everyday, Evan sat by his bed, not saying anything. Sometimes, he'd work on homework. Or write the letters Dr. Sherman told him to write to himself.

Everyday, Evan left the hospital, feeling just as empty as he had been when he arrived.

And everyday, Evan longed to see Connor's eyes open.

—————I know it started off sad but it's swear————

Evan sat in calculus, fingers drumming on his desk. He couldn't pay attention. He wanted to be at the hospital, with Connor. He couldn't just sit around and wait for him.

Evan felt useless. (Me too bruh)

The teacher's voice sounded distant and far away. Evan tapped his backpack with his foot. He propped his head on his hand. His notebook page was blank. No notes had been taken. Evan didn't even know why he had it out if he wasn't gonna use it.

He felt his phone vibrate inside of his pocket.

Probably just Mom... he thought. It buzzed again.

He slowly extracted it from his pocket, making sure nobody saw. He was sitting in the back, close to the door, so he could get out quickly. He looked down, and turned his phone on.

One text message from: ZoeMurphy

Evan turned the phone off, placing it back in his pocket. If he felt another, he'd look and see. Zoe has texted him all the time during class.

Ten minutes passed before he felt his phone vibrate again. He pulled it discreetly out of his pocket, turning it on.

One text message from: ConnorMurphy🌚

Evan felt his heart thump loudly. He must have fallen asleep in class. But, he wasn't. He unlocked his phone.

ConnorMurphy🌚: guess what

ConnorMurphy🌚: evan hansen

Evan quickly turned his phone off, putting it in his pocket. He raised his hand. He knew it was a dumb move, because everyone would stare at him, but he'd worry about that later.

"Evan?" The teacher called.

"Uhm, can I see the nurse? I think I'm going to throw up," Evan lied. The teacher gave him a look. He widened his eyes, putting his hand over his mouth, pretending to gag. Under no circumstance would Evan do this on a normal day, but this wasn't normal.
