Chaos

Cole

As I sat with Julian trying to offer comfort to him, Wade ran out to the car.

"Cole! It's Cade!" Wade yelled.

My heart fell. Wade looked at Julian, and his eyes widened.

"Go. I'm calling Adrian. I'll meet you," I said, and he nodded as he got into the car. He pulled out of the driveway and drove off. I called Adrian and stayed with Julian. Once he got here, I would leave.

Adrian showed up a few minutes later, and I got out of the car. I looked at him as he looked at me, then I left. Cade was in trouble.

Adrian

I climbed into the car, and Julian looked at me, "I'm sorry, Dad," he cried.

I pulled him to me. "Oh, Julian," I comforted Julian as I held him as he cried. I know he needed medical attention, but he needed his dad.

As he cried, I held him. I don't know what happened, but when he was ready, I would be there to listen without judgment.

Wade

I pulled up and saw the wreckage. I got out of the car, and my heart sank, oh god. I walked towards it. The car's flipped and damaged. There was a truck and so many police and paramedics.

I looked around, and I screamed, "Cade! Cade! Oh god, Cade!"

Then I turned and saw him. He was in the back of the ambulance as they were checking him out. I ran over to him.

"Dad!" Cade yelled.

As soon as I reached him, I grabbed him and hugged him tightly, oh god.

I pulled back. "You okay?"

"A little banged up, but I'm okay. I was wearing my seatbelt," Cade assured me. I hugged him again. My heart was beating so fast.

Then I heard Cole yell, "Wade!"

"Over here," I yelled as he ran over to us.

"Cade!" Cole yelled as he reached us.

"Dad!" Cade yelled back.

Cole threw his arms around him as Cade buried his head into him and grabbed me. He cried, and so did we. I don't know what happened, but I was glad he was okay. Our boy was okay. To us, that's what mattered.

Antonio

I noticed the time, and it was getting later and later. Rain was worrying. It was unlike Enzo not to contact us or come home from school. Something told me there was a problem. We know our boy.

I went to look for him. I tried calling everyone, but no one was picking up. As soon as I opened the door, Colton and Reed met me. They looked at me as I looked at them.

"There's a problem. Where's Enzo?" Colton asked me.

"I don't know. Enzo didn't come home," I answered.

"Dad, whats's going on?" Rain asked him.

He looked at me. "Go, Antonio. Reed will go with you. I'll stay." I nodded as he walked over to Rain. We left and went looking around for Enzo. Reed filled me in on what he and Colton found out.

My stomach turned. That's when I went to the one place I had a feeling Enzo would be.

We pulled up to Everly's house and saw the police and paramedics. Shit. My heart was beating fast as we got out of the car. I thought something happened to Enzo.

We walked up and looked around. We overheard the police talking. Said the police only found one male unconscious. No one else was in the house. The police described him, and at that moment, I knew it wasn't Enzo.

We watched the paramedics leave with Owen, and I looked at Reed, who whispered, "Go find your boy. I will talk to the police. I think they will be very interested in what I found out."

I nodded. I walked towards the back of the house. I saw the back door opened and looked down - shoe prints. I took off running, following the footprints in the dirt. Thank god the ground is soft.

They led to the woods, and I followed them. God, please let it be Enzo and Everly and let them be safe.

Enzo

We stopped to catch our breath. I looked at Everly. She had marks around her neck from Owen, god. I knew something wasn't right with him.

She stood there as I walked towards her. She flinched and fought me until I wrapped my arms around her. Her body shook, and I knew she was crying. How could you not? After what she had been through tonight.

Then she stopped and looked at me. She signed footsteps and pointed. I looked, and just as we were about to take off, she heard someone yell, "Everly! It's me, Antonio! Stop Enzo!"

I was running, but she grabbed my arm, stopping me. I turned to her, motioning her to move. She shook her hand and pointed. I looked as Dad came into view.

He signed me. "It's okay. No one is coming." I looked at him. "Please, Enzo."

I sighed as I walked towards him. He pulled me into a hug, and I hugged him back. Everly walked towards him, and he saw her. He sighed.

"Come on," he waved her to him. She ran to him and threw her arms around him. He just held us.

He walked us back, and the police wanted to talk to Everly. Dad stayed with her, and she explained what happened. I didn't want her to lie to them, and I would accept any punishment that they handed to me. I didn't care.

But she did something I never expected. She didn't lie, but she defended me. Said if it weren't for me, she would be dead. They ruled it self defense. For that, I was grateful.

The police let us go, and since they were treating the house as a crime scene, Everly came with us. As we walked to the car, I felt a hand slide into mine. I looked down and saw her holding my hand. I smiled, and she smiled back.

Dad followed us to the car along with Uncle Reed as we all got in and went home. I had a feeling thing would take another turn.

When we got home, we went inside, and mom about tackled me. I assured her I was okay.

She looked at me. "Never do that again. You didn't text it worried us and us."

"I'm sorry. Everly was in trouble," I signed.

"Still, I don't care if your dad is in trouble. You tell me where you're at or no dessert for you," she said emphatically.

We all looked at her.

"Hun, why no dessert?" Dad asked her.

"Because dessert is awesome, and taking it away makes people sad. You should know this. Do I need to explain things to you again? Dessert is a treat. When you do bad things, you get no dessert. Sheesh," she said as she threw her hands into the air and walked away.

Everly looked at us, confused. Then I said, "Mom has autism. Don't worry; you get used to it."

"That explains so much now," she said as I laughed.

I had a feeling things weren't exactly over, and the fallout would be enormous. I just didn't realize Cade and Julian were suffering their result.
