I was at home, getting ready for school.
Me and Zack were in a rush since we woke up late.
"Where's my backpack? Has anyone seen my backpack?" I question, rushing in the kitchen.
"Right here," Mom raised my bag up in her hand.
I rush over and grab it, slipping it on. Zack came in too, wearing just a orange shirt and boxers. "Has anyone seen my pants?"
As mom was pulling toast out of the toaster, Mom called, "Check the dryer." Once mom set the toast down, I reached for one. "Be careful, Elizabeth."
I drop the toast quickly. "Ow! Hot!" Picking up the sides, carefully as I could, I carry it in between my teeth. "Bye, mom."
"Later, honey."
I rushed out of the kitchen and to the door. My hands were full so I took the toast out of my mouth, pulling the door open, only to be met with Shawn about to knock.
"Betty Cooper, you are a sight for sore eyes," he said.
I smile in response, closing the front door and walking outside. "You actually waited for me?"
"Yeah," he answered. "I woke up late today. And I was hoping for you or Cory to still be here."
"Glad you did too. Its boring to walk without you or Cory."

When me and Shawn got to school-
"And to the republic for which it stands one nation, under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all," we all say, but Cory shares a look with me and Shawn when we notice Topanga stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance.
As we sat back down, Mr. Feeny looked to the girl.
"Miss Lawrence, I couldn't help noticing that you didn't recite the Pledge of Allegiance this morning."
"Yes, sir. I elected not to," Topanga answered.
"Why was that?"
"I didn't feel like it."
Cory looked to me and Shawn with a grin. "This is gonna be cool."
"What was that, Mr. Matthews?" Mr. Feeny asked.
"Uh, I said, this is gonna be cool, Mr. Feeny."
"Why?"
"'Cause you're finally gonna nail Topanga for being weird."
"Do you think it's weird to engage in social protest?"
"I think it's weird to pick on me when she didn't say the pledge of allegiance."
"Well, Mr. Matthews it seems that you and Miss Lawrence have opposing positions for this morning's debate."
"Uh-oh."
"You did this to yourself, Cor," I tell him.
"You been set up, bud," Minkus said to him.
"Mr. Feeny told you not to say the pledge?" Cory whispered to Topanga who just chuckled before turning around.
Mr. Feeny wrote on the chalkboard. "Today's social studies discussions American traditions the Pledge of Allegiance versus social protest. Mr.Matthews, defend old Glory. Miss Lawrence, defend the right to dissent."
They both stood up. "Just because it's a tradition doesn't mean you have to do it," Topanga stated.
"But it's the Pledge of Allegiance. It takes, like, ten seconds to say. Why can't you just say it and make everyone happy?" Cory asked her.
