Dangerous Secret

"Shawn," I stir in my sleep to the voice outside. "Shawn, it's me, Cory."

Shawn sat up beside me, turning on the light.

"Is that Cory?" I mumble, still tired.

"Yeah, it's him, Betts." I began to sit up, but Shawn told me softly. "Hey, don't worry about it. Just rest, okay?"

I nod before falling back into the pillow as Shawn left the room.

3rd POV

Shawn opened the trailer door, seeing his best friend stand there with large brown grocery bags.

"Cory, what are you doing here?" Shawn asked confused.

Cory pushed past him into the trailer. "Well, my best friend's sick, his folks are out of town. I just thought I'd drop by and check on you. These bags weigh a ton. But, you know, I just brought over a few little sundries to tide you through." Cory began to unload the bags. "Cough syrup, aspirin."

"Vaporub?" Shawn questioned. "What, you didn't bring me any flowers?"

Cory took out the small pot of flowers. "Well, actually, I did. I just didn't know if it was appropriate."

Shawn began to worry the longer Cory stayed. "It's not. It's not appropriate. Now, uh, if you'll excuse me, I, um...I got to get some sleep." Shawn faked a believable cough. "I'm very contagious."

Cory took a small device out. "Oh, say no more. I'll just plug in the humidifier and be on my way."

As Cory walked towards Shawn's room, he crossed paths with a tired-looking Betty Cooper who was too busy rubbing her eyes to notice Cory. "Shawny, can you please come to bed. It's cold without you by my side-" she stopped speaking when she saw- "Cory?" she questioned, surprised.

There Betty was, in all her tired glory. Her golden blonde hair was rested on her shoulders, her emerald green eyes shined with sleep deprivation, but we're wide with surprise and sore Shawn's large Counting Crows t-shirt and some shorts underneath.

"Betty?" Cory asked before looking to Shawn with shock who had an uneasy expression. "Shawn?"

Cory stormed out of Shawn's trailer to which Shawn followed and Betty trailed behind.

"Cory. Really, you don't have to go," Shawn told him.
