At the Matthews home, I sat at the dining room table since Eric invited me over and insisted on buying dinner oddly.

"Eric, listen," Cory began. "Don't think I appreciate a good T-bone but I would've been plenty happy with a double chubby burger."

"Yeah I wouldn't have mind eating some sandwiches with Zack," I add, biting into the steak Eric bought. "But thank you. You're the best."

"She doesn't even live here, they get steak. I get cold grilled cheese," Morgan stated. "What gives?"

"Well, Morgan, I just feel that our brother and our good old family friend with their interesting lives, he deserves a hearty meal."

"Family friend?" Morgan questioned. "Didn't you have a crush on B-"

"On B-Blair?" Eric interrupted quickly. "Yes. Yes, I did but that's in the past now. She has a boyfriend now."

I just grinned. I think he means me but...okay.

"Well, you don't think my life's interesting?" Morgan asked, going back on Eric's previous words.

Eric approached Morgan. "Morgan, did I just do something nice for Cory?" he asked.

"Yeah."

"Do I normally do nice stuff for Cory?"

"No."

"Why would I do nice stuff for Cory?"

"Because something terrible happened to him. And if Betty's here, that means something terrible happened to her too."

My eyes widen while Eric just forced a chuckle and told Morgan, "Eat your grilled cheese."

I placed my fork down. "Eric, did something happen?" I ask.

"Uh..." he began. "Maybe."

"So I would be correct in assuming that this wonderful meal is actually one of those condemned-man, death row, last meal kind of things. But that can't be because there's no cake."

Eric reached to the cake holder in front of us.

"Oh gosh, please don't be-" I start.

Eric pulled the top off to reveal a beautiful chocolate cake.

I shrieked, taking Cory's hand in mine. "Cor..." I spoke in anxiousness as we both stood up.

"Dead man walking," Cory mumbled before turning to Eric. "Should we do this in the living room?"

"We can do it there," Eric answered before Cory and I follow him into the living room. "I'm only telling you guys this because it involves both of you and it's the right thing to do."
