At school, a teacher pinned a paper to the board in the hall. We all looked at it and my jaw dropped.

"Finals!" Cory exclaimed. "Oh, my God. I didn't even see it coming."

I read the paper, panicking, "Three in one day!" I exclaim.

"English, chemistry, and history. With only ten minutes in between? That's not enough time to study," Shawn said.

Topy turned on her heels. "Cory, do not even try to call me for the next two weeks. I'll be incommunicado."

"Wow, that's guts. We're studying, and she's off to Mexico," Shawn stated as Topy walked away.

"This schedule stinks, man," someone spoke.

"Whoa, guys. Guys, calm down, all right? Now, if we devote the next two weeks to studying in the library, we got no problem," Cory stated.

For the next two weeks, I studied until my brain began to hurt. Even then, I studied. Shawn called me but I told my mom to tell him I was studying.

I was studying my science textbook when Cory spoke, "Guys, we got a problem here. I mean, finals start in two days. How did this sneak up on us?"

"I don't know, man, 'cause these books haven't left my side in two weeks," Shawn replied.

"You know, Shawn, what kind of evil, sick, twisted mind would think of a finals schedule like this?" Cory asked.

Just then, Mr. Feeny walked by. "Hi, gang."

Cory and Shawn stood up. "Mr. Feeny, about this finals schedule. It's either gotta be a mistake or a joke," Cory said.

"And, let's face it, you're not really funny," Shawn added.

"And you're not really studying," Mr. Feeny replied. "I suggest you do."

Topy gently shook my shoulder. "Betty?" I payed no mind to her. "Betty, snap out of it."

I shot up from my book. "Starch and cellulose occur naturally!" I look to see I was in the cafeteria. "Oh, we haven't taken the final yet."

"You know, if we just buckle down and study, I'm sure we would have no problem at all," Topy stated to me and the boys.

"I'll tell you when we've got no problem. It's when you get rid of Feeny," Denny spoke.

Cory laughed before asking confused, "What do you mean?"

"I mean get rid of him," he replied before walking away.

"Those guys give me the creeps," Topy stated causing me to nod.

"Yeah, but the only thing that really scares me is failure...and spiders," I state.
