My and the boys were at Chubby's, when a girl walked by, Cory ran up to her, most likely asking her to the seventh grade dance.

When he came back, Shawn asked, "Any luck?"

"Apparently, it's not a good time to be a grandmother," Cory replied. "Look, her grandmother's coughing phlegm," he points to another girl. "Her grandmother's hacking blood," and another girl. "And her-"

"Whoa. I happen to know she has no grandmother," I spoke.

"Yes, and somehow she blames me for her death."

Shawn shrugged. "At least you can't sink any lower."

A guy and his pal walked up. ,Hey, you. Busy?" he asked Cory.

"You're not gonna ask me to the dance, are you?" Cory questioned.

"Might be your only hope," I chuckle.

"What if I did?" the guy replied to Cory.

"I'd say pick me up at eight, but no slow dances."

"Just watch these for a second, all right?" He hands Cory his guitar case.

"I can do that." His friend placed the other case on our table. "I'm not going to this dance with anybody."

"Why not ask Topanga?" I question.

"I could, I could, but that would show no personal growth if I simply ask the girl I've always asked ever since we were five."

I knew Cory well though and so did Shawn. "So, when you gonna ask her?"

"I figure tomorrow, unless by some magic, girls suddenly start to notice me."

The two girls from earlier came up to Cory.

"Hi. I couldn't help noticing you," one spoke.

"Oh, you're talking to me? Shouldn't you be at the hospital visiting one of your many blood-hacking grandmas?" Cory sassed.

"Why didn't you tell me you play?" the other asked.

"Huh?"

Shawn spoke up, "Cory, they're onto us. They've spotted our axes. They know we play. They like musicians."

"Oh, well, then watch me pull this rabbit out of my hat."

I kick his leg. "Musicians, Cory."

"Oh, well, that's very different."

"You guys in a band?" number 1 asked.

Cory laughed. "Are we in a band?" He looked to Shawn. "Are we in a band?"

"Yes, you idiot," Shawn told him through clenched teeth.

"Well, I'm not," I answer honestly before deciding to tease. "I'm just a fan madly in love with a certain artist," I look at Shawn, playing with my hair in a ponytail.

Shawn laughed, I couldn't tell if it was exaggerated or nervous.

"Well, maybe you'd play for us sometime?" number 1 said.

"Yeah, we're gonna tell our friends we know you," the other one laughed before walking away.

"You know, they like us because they think we're in a band," Cory said.

"We could cash in on this," Shawn told him.

"But we'd be total phonies."

"And it's gonna end badly," I say. "They'll know your phonies."

"Phonies with groupies," Shawn said.

Cory shook his head as the guys from earlier grabbed his guitars. "No. We could never pull this off in a million, billion, trillion years."
