Topy came up to me and the boys. "Okay, guys, yearbook time. As you look back on your first year at John Adams, what would you consider your greatest accomplishment and why?"

"Let's see..." Cory trailed off. "I mean, there's so many."

"It's hard to pick just one," Shawn added.

"There's the time we-"

"No. No, that wasn't us," Shawn cut Cory off.

"What about the time we-?"

"Also not us."

"I got one," I say. "Shawn Hunter is my accomplishment. I got him to fall in love with me."

Shawn wrapped an arm around me. "Yeah, you did pretty great on that."

"As sweet as that is, a real accomplishment, Bee," Topy replied.

"Well, I've gotten student of the month twice. I think Mr. Turner voted for me," I answer.

"Great, job," Topy told me but then looked to the boys. "You guys are the two most pathetic students in this school."

Once she walked away, Shawn said, "That's an accomplishment."

"She's right, Shawn," Cory replied. "I mean, the year's almost over and I haven't made a name for myself. And you know whose fault it is?"

"Your own?" Shawn suggested.

"Yours?" I say.

"No, why should I take the fall? I blame..." He looked to the boys who were picking on a kid. "The jocks!"

"Why?"

"Because they wear those stupid jackets and therefore get all the girls.
What chance do I have?"

A jock came up behind Shawn, picking him up. "Whoa. Major growth spurt."

"Hey, get your hands off my boyfriend, you meathead!" I tell them.

"Too heavy," he told his friend before putting Shawn down and picking up.

"Hey, dude!" I call.

"She's too light," the guy told his friend, putting me down.

He turned to Cory who begged. "Please don't. Please don't. I had a fat, heavy breakfast-"

He covered Cory's mouth as his friend picked him up. "We've got an opening of the 108-pound super-confetti-weight division on the wrestling team. Savage?"

The boy slightly shook Cory. "Perfect."

Once Cory got placed down, the guy who asked Cory the question said, "Congratulations, kid. You're on the wrestling team."

Cory looked to us as he scoffed, "Yeah! Like there's a chance in the universe I'd ever want to be on your stupid wrestling team."

He got handed a jacket. "Here's your jacket."

"Ooh," Cory quickly grabbed the jacket. Look, guys, my jacket."

"Here's your uniform."

"My uniform," Cory repeated, taking it. "This is like Christmas here."

"Here's your candy," the guy added.

"Candy?"

A girl wrapped an arm around him. "Hi, I'm Candy."

"Sweet," Cory said.

The next day, at lunch, Shawn and I watched Cory interact with the wrestling team.
