It was the first day of school and I was grabbing my bag for school. It was by my window, I looked out while grabbing my bag and saw Toby Cavanaugh helping his sister Jenna into the car.
When I got to school, I ran into Toby and our books fell to the ground. We both bend down and grab our things.
"I'm so sorry," I say standing up. "I didn't look where I was going."
"No, it's fine. I didn't look either," he said standing up to.
It was awkward for a minute or two before someone finally spoke.
"Well, I gotta get to my locker. Get some things for class," I said walking towards the door but ran into him again. "Wow, I'm just really clumsy today. Sorry again."
"It's fine. Do you want to go to the grill? To study homework?"
"Uh, yeah. Yeah that would be great."
I walk towards where my old best friends were talking. I probably know what their talking about. Toby and I talking to each other.
"Hey guys. What's up?" I ask once I get to them.
"Since when are you and that freak Toby friends?" Hanna asked.
"Since when are you the one to tell me who I can and can't hangout with? Remember we're not friends? You know what? Just stay away from me," I say then walk to my locker.
When I open my locker, it wasn't like it was supposed to be. Someone trashed it. I looked to the door and saw an envelope with my name on it. I grab it and put it in my bag. Quickly I grab my Biology book and close my locker door. I turn and bump, yet again, into Toby knocking our books down again.
"I'm sorry. I need to check what's wrong with my eyes," I said grabbing our books and handing him his.
"It's fine. I need to stop scaring you, that's all."
"So, what's up?"
"Oh, I was just wondering if I should meet you at your locker after school?"
"Yeah. Do you wanna walk to Biology with me? You know cause we have it together?"
"Sure. Let's go."
We headed to Biology in silence and sat together.
"Can I see your hand?" he asked suddenly.
"Uh, sure," I say giving it to him palm up. "Why?"
"What happened? You have a faint line across your palm."
"Oh, um, my friend and I were walking to the little store and took a shortcut. I was holding onto a fence when I slid and almost fell. I thought it was gone but I guess not."
"Well, now you will always have a memory in that hand."
I put my hand on the table palm up and looked at it. A minute later Jenna came up and slammed her textbook ontop of my hand, exactly where my other scar was. I pull it out and hold my hand.
"That wasn't your hand was it?" she asked.
"No, of course not. I have to go to the nurse real quick," I replied.
"Do you want me to go with you?" Toby asked.
"No, it's fine. She can go by herself. Right, Spence?" Jenna asked.
"Yeah, it's fine. I can go by myself."
I walk out of the room and head towards the nurse when I see Aria, Emily, and Hanna. Luckily Toby came right by my side.
"Come on let's go to the nurse," he said grabbing my good hand and leading me to the nurses.
"My hand is bleeding. Why is my hand bleeding?" I asked stopping and looking at it.
"Your wound and when Jenna slammed her book on it. It must have opened."
When we get to the nurses she told my I had to get stitches in my hand. I wasn't looking at my hand but at Toby.
We walked out when she finished and headed back towards Biology. It was quiet but not uncomfortable.
"Thanks, for coming with me," I whispered during class.
"No, problem."
