Chapter Four

I'm back stage sitting on the couch in his dressing room playing with my necklace that my dad gave me at my first concert. Baylor is laying beside me "I can't believe I told them what happened to my mom I never told anyone! this is going to get out to the media somehow I just know it and then people are going to ask question that I really don't" the door opened snapping me out of my thoughts. Jake came through the door wearing black jeans and red sneakers with a towel around his neck and carrying a water bottle he's hot and sweaty,

"How many songs have you done?"

"Four"

He laid the bottle on the dresser. The sweat ran down his back leaving a trail behind it,

"Your sweaty that's gross" I said

He came over to me "give me a hug" he smirked

"No!" I squealed while laughing

He leaned down and hugged me while wiping his sweat on me,

"You're. so. gross!" I exclaimed

Jakes phone dinged he looked at it and smiled

"you're a dork" I laughed

his dressing room door opened Chase came in "Jake two minutes"

Jake threw on a white t-shirt. I got up and straightened my pink floral dress I went over to Jake and kissed him,

"I'm so lucky to have you in my life you mean the world to me"

He looked at me and smiled

"And I'm lucky to have you in mine"

He pecked my lips,

"I love you" he smiled

"Love you more"

"not possible"

I looked over at Baylor he's watching us and wagging his tail,

"Walk me out?" Jake asked

I nodded and he took my hand. We're at the stage entrance I kissed Jakes cheek,

"I love you" I smiled

"I love you too that's why I'm doing this"

He led me out on stage and gave me my headset. I put it on I looked down and saw Baylor beside me. Jake and I walked out closer to the audience,

"Payton Miller everyone!"

Millions of claps and screams are heard all I could do was smile

"Hey everyone" I smiled and waved

I heard people talking in the crowd and some pointed at Baylor,

"For those of you who don't know who my four-legged companion is this is Baylor I got him from the shelter and he goes with me everywhere"

Just then music started playing,

"Jake my dad doesn't want me to perform"

"Your not" he said with a smirk

His number one single Number One Girl came flowing through the speakers

"I am"

"I love you so much" I smiled

He wrapped his arms around my waist. I wrap my arms around his neck. We started dancing as he sung his eyes never came off of me there was so much love in his eyes. The song ended and I'm in tears my first actual slow dance was in front of millions we headed upstage his arms wrapped around my waist and he laid his chin on my shoulder. I looked in the sky and saw shooting stars,

"Jake look" I quietly said which wasn't so quiet because my headset was on

he looked in the sky and so did everyone else,

"Make a wish" he said

They all closed their eyes,

"You make a wish too" he said to me

"Why?" I asked "I have everything I've always wanted"

He smiled "you're perfect"

"You make one Jake"

He shook his head "I have everything I've always wanted and more"

I relaxed into him "we'll just let somebody else have ours"

He kissed my cheek and loud awww's are heard my face turned red I forgot we were still on stage.

I went home early since I was tired and my dad said that I should get my rest. I trudged through the door and as I shut it something flew by my face and hit the wall shattering into little pieces I saw my brother and Veronica arguing,

"I saw the messages! you're cheating on me!" my brother screamed

"It wasn't me! I never sent those messages to your friend"

"Bitch got busted"

"I can't believe you" my brother yelled "after all we've been through after all I've done for you and what I've done with you!"

"Ok ew"

She started crying "Tim please I"

"Oooo that's not Tim"

she looked at my brother "Austin I"

"You can't be trusted" he said anger filled his eyes "we're over"

She looked at him "please Austin if you"

"Goodbye Veronica"

I watched her as she turned on her heels and walked out the door watching her through the window I saw her immediately pull out her phone and started typing away "cheating hoe" I turned my attention back to my brother. He's sitting on the couch I went over to him,

"Hey" I faintly said

he faced me "you saw the whole thing huh?"

"Just about"

"I knew something was going on I just didn't want to believe it"

I hugged him and I felt his arms wrap around me "it's ok she wasn't the best girl around"

He chuckled "got that right"

He pulled me onto his lap and I rested my head on his shoulder,

"You and your sister are the only girls I need in my life right now"

I smiled "got that right"

"If I ever have another girlfriend-"

"You're not going to have another girlfriend" I interrupted

he looked at me "and why is that?"

"Because I uhh"

The door opened and it's our dad "the concert must be over" he came in and went upstairs,

"goodnight!" he yelled

"Night!" Austin and I yelled in unison

I got off my brothers lap,

"Dad's got the right idea" I smiled while stretching

I headed upstairs

"Wait a minute" my brother said

I turned around at the top and looked at my brother,

"What?"

"What were you going to say?" he asked trying to bring back the previous conversation

"Nothing forget it" I said "goodnight I love you"

He crossed his arms over his chest and rolled his eyes he knew the previous topic wasn't going to be brought up,

"Goodnight love you too"

I smiled and went back into my room,

"I'm never going to tell him why"
