My Life Is Different

Chapter Thirty-Two

I can't believe Jake would act this way towards a four year old. Wish he would see this from my perspective. I came down the steps and saw Maria talking to the family in the living room telling them her favorite color and about how much she loves the dress. She's a beautiful girl and I'm glad she can call me her mom because honetly that's what she needs a mother and if she thinks that I am her mother then so be it, I know how it feels not to have a mother and I don't want her to feel the same way I did, but sadly she will be without a father.

I stood by the steps just watching her I want to ask her why she was underneath the bush and if she rememebers how she got there but she's just too happy right now and I really don't want her to answer questions that would probably make her upset,

"Hey Payton"

I looked at the top of the steps and saw Jake standing at there he has tear stained cheeks and he looks upset,

"What?" I snapped

he came down the steps and stood beside me,

"Can we" he said but then was interuppted by Maria's laugh

I saw a smile form on his face as he watched her twirl around holding the dress up to herself,

"What do you want Jake?"

"I want to talk to you"

"Sure"

We walked back up the steps and into my room, he sat on the bed and I sat across from him,

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Maria"

"I think you made it pretty clear that you don't want anything to do with her"

he just looked at me,

"I'm sorry" he said which surprised me

"For what?"

"What I said" he looked up at me "I shouldn't have said that I do want to start a family with you and I don't mind Maria calling me dad"

I smiled "Apology accepted"

"I hate fighting with you"

"And I hate fighting with you but it really hurt me"

"I know that now I didn't know how much she means to you but once I saw you watching her and a smile formed on your face that's when I realized that you love her just as much as I love you"

"So is everything good with us?"

he pulled me towards him and kissed me

"Yes"

This is one down that we conquered together. We may have our ups and downs but we get through them together. Weather it be a short time apart or just talking about it we always find a way to fight through it, but I guess that's what love does it throws you the toughest battles and sees if you can make it through them together. As long as I have him by my side I know I can get through any battle the world or love throws at us.

Jake, Maria, the cop and I are all at the doctors waiting to get called back. Maria is in my lap sleeping while holding onto her bear. Camera men are outside of the doctors just trying to get pictures it annoyed me so much. Thank God they can't get a picture of her face she's blocking it with her bear. A nurse came out wearing monkey scrubs which were appropriate for the enviorment she's in,

"Miller?" she asked while looking around the rooom

Jake and I stood up,

"I'll wait out here" the cop said "I think this is going to be a rough experince for her she doesn't really need too many people in the room"
