My Life Is Different

Chapter Ten

-Jason's P.O.V-

As I stand here looking at my daughter who is curled up next to her dog I can't help but feel my heart slowly dying. I look around and all I see are watery eyes Austin's arms are around Rachel, Ms Thomas is with Jake and I see tears coming down her face and I'm here with Bethany looking at Payton wondering if there was anything I could have done to prevent this.

Bethany laid her hand on my back and I just looked at her and cried she wrapped her arms around me my eyes became dry I couldn't cry anymore so loud sobs came out,

"I'm so sorry" she said

"If I took her with me she'd still be here!"

She held me arms length and looked me in the eyes and shook her head,

"Don't" she said as her voice broke "don't you dare blame yourself for this"

I looked at my daughter then back at her

"It was her time Jason God wouldn't have done this if it wasn't"

I looked back at the two of them and just sobbed. Bethany and I got up and started walking away but then I heard a growl I stopped in my tracks and turned around. Again I heard the growl I went back over to Baylor and Payton and just watched Baylor hoping that it wasn't just my mind playing tricks on me I saw Baylor's chest go up and down.

I blinked my eyes "I'm seeing things" continuing to watch Baylor I saw his paw move,

"Come on Baylor" I quietly said

Just then I saw his blue eyes look at me I did a sigh of relief I looked at Payton and there wasn't a sound or a movement. Baylor just sat by her side "she's gone Baylor" I said "we'll let you say your goodbyes" we walked away giving him the privacy he needed.

We're all by the car. No one is saying anything "no one is going to be the same we lost someone important to us" as a tear fell down the side of my face as I remember all the memories we made. Jake came over and I hugged him he just cried in my arms,

"I loved her! and I lost her!" he cried

"Jake she loved you too"

"I told her to go to Jades I told her that because I wanted her safe but she stayed here!" he cried harder "I lost the love of my life I'll never love anyone more than I love her"

I held him tighter. Jake loved her and she was his everything no one understood their love except them he always told her how much he loved her he showed her every chance he got. Their love wasn't normal it was so much stronger,

"I saw a future with her" he sobbed "I could see us years from now with children of our own playing in a house we lived in together I could see her making breakfast in the kitchen wearing a white t-shirt with purple shorts and I would hug her and tell her how much she means to me I could see it..." he let his voice trail off "but now I can't"

I looked at him "Jake"

"I can't see that future with anyone else except your daughter I loved her Jason and I still do, I will always love your daughter"

I felt a tear escape from eye. She found someone who loved her for the right reasons. I patted his back and he went to his mom. I rubbed my face with my hands I heard barking and looked up and saw Baylor standing on top of house debris he's wagging his tail and barking like crazy. Bethany came over,

"What's wrong with him?"

I carefully watched his movements "no it can't be" I looked at Bethany,

"Payton!"

I ran towards Baylor with everyone following. We ran over to Payton who is laying on the ground motionless. I kneeled beside her and felt for a pulse everyone just watched "come on" just then I felt one,

"It's faint but I got one!" I looked at Austin "get the paramedics!"

He ran off, her pulse is getting better. As I watched her I saw her eyes opening the tears just started flowing. The paramedics showed up and gently laid her on the gurney I laid Baylor beside her,

"I'm sorry but" a paramedic said

"He's staying with her" I stated

They placed her in the ambulance I got in beside her,

"Bethany meet me at the hospital"

She nodded then ran to the car with everyone following. The paramedics shut the door I focused my attention back on Payton they have an oxygen mask over her mouth and have fluids going into her. I felt her squeeze my hand,

"I love you daddy" she faintly said

I started crying "I love you too Princess"

I saw one of the paramedics smile out of the corner of my eye. No matter how old these girls get they will always be my babies. Even if they are fifty years old they will still be my babies. I will always love my kids no matter how mad they make me. Friends come and go but family is forever.
