Tension and Secrets

Éclair, her adoptive parents, Edward, Kiomi, and Trevor all sat around the dinner table while Éclair's father began to examine her metal arm and her notes.

"It's very good craftsmanship, Trevor. I'm very proud of what a good mechanic you've become." Éclair's father told Trevor, "Although I'd like to know the whole story behind what happened to your original arm."

"And leg," Trevor commented, beginning to rub his own left arm with his right hand, "But thank you, it's not every day I get to create such a fine arm almost exactly like its original."

Éclair's father nodded at Trevor's statement, examining El's wrist rather closely, "I was going to say, her wrists are nearly identical. I've never even seen your father create such a close replicate."

"Let's just say he has and expertise in the ability to study my arm at pretty much at any given time." Éclair laughs, "anyways, anything catching your eye in my notebook?"

"Well I've seen a lot of your studies about xing's life alchemy.''

Éclair nodded, "and that electricity alchemy? What do you think of that? I could show you later if you'd like, I'm very good at it!"

Éclair's father nodded, "I'm surprised it doesn't shock you through your arm."

"Well...it has in the past when I was learning...but I've gotten better with it!" Éclair smiled.

"And this here...I see your notes for this alchemic electricity explosion. Wouldn't that throw off the electricity grid in central if you attempt it? You'd be rerouting too much--"

"It did." Edward sighed, "I thought Mustang was really going to let us have it that time."

"I fixed it though I swear.. I can control it much better even with bigger transmutations." Eclair assured her father.

Éclair's father paged threw El's notebook a little more, "All these large transmutations...you've succeeded with them?"

Éclair nodded, "Yes, almost all of them. Some of them wore me out, but I have succeeded with most of what is in the notebook, besides a few of them that I'll never attempt as long as I live."

"Oh? And what's this?" El's father pulled out the pictures of Edward, Trevor, and Zanner from the notebook, "I didn't know you were...quite the budding artist, Éclair..."

Trevor face-palmed, "I thought you got rid of those..."

Edward sighed face palming as well, "Obviously not."

"Those are personal!" El snatched the pages with her drawings on it out of her father's hands, causing another page covered in blood to fall out and onto the ground. El's father was slow as he reached down picking up the page. "Eclair...what is this?"

Éclair had taken her pictures and placed them on the table before she walked over and picked up the bloody page. She flipped it over to reveal a bloody left hand print with a transmutation circle etched into it. "That's the last hand print I left with my left hand before I lost it." She took the page and sat back down, there was a dead silence that fell between each and everyone at the table

El's father continued to page a little more through the notebook before he finally came across El's morbid studies. He found droplets of blood staining a few more pages, and suddenly exactly what he wasn't expecting to find: El's studies into human transmutation, and the notes on the entirety of Trevor's experience with El's arm. He continued to read in depth all of her notes, including the ones containing who she was as a humoncolus. Meanwhile Éclair sat with her head bowed in shame, a single tear falling to the picture of Ed on the table below her face. Trevor had the same ashamed look on his face, holding his left arm while shaking his head slightly back and forth. Edward joined them while El's father finished. His hands stopping on one of the recent pages as he looked up towards Eclair he was tapping his foot underneath the table thinking as he stopped his rhythmic tapping. "I had no idea that you went through these things Eclair..." He whispered suddenly looking down.
