Bastion was awakened to the sound of whimpering and crying. He sat up and looked around, his eyes adjusting to the darkness. He checked his phone: 3:37 a.m. His eyes soon laid on Susan. Although he couldn't see her face clearly, he could tell she was the one crying. Bastion stood and walked to Susan, and gently shook her. No response. He sighed and picked her up, then took a seat back onto the couch and held Susan in his lap. She had a small stature, causing Bastion to be extra careful with her, as if one wrong move could break her. Bastion held Susan's hand tightly, and caressed her cheek with his free hand.

"Shhhh..." He soothed, "You're going to be alright. It's just a bad dream."

This calmed Susan a bit, causing her shaking to slow a bit, but she was still hysterically crying. Bastion gathered some courage and kissed her forehead. This made Susan calm down almost instantly. Only small tears escaped her eyes. About a minute later, her eyes fluttered open. She looked around, expecting the giant beast to be leaning over her. Instead, she saw Bastion's face, looking down at her dearly.

"Bastion?" She mumbled.

"You were having a nightmare."

Susan sighed. "It's been happening lately."

"Mind telling me what it was about?"

"Well, it started how my nightmares usually start. A large, shadowy beast was chasing me, its tentacles wriggling around. Usually, I'll wake up after a while, but tonight was...different. The monster chased me longer than usual, and at some point, the world went dark. I then woke up in a dark room, bound to a chair. Then, you walked in. But you were different as well...You had a creepy grin on your face. You came t-towards me, leaned f-forwards and...a-and..."

She dug her face into his chest and cried. Bastion held her tight. "And what?" He asked.

"Y-You pulled out a pocketknife from your pocket...You held it up, and as you th-thrusted it towards m-my face...I woke up on your lap. Being calmed..."

She looked up at Bastion. "Thank you so much..." She kissed his cheek. Bastion smiled.

"Anything for you."

Eyyyy! So yea, pretty short. I had the idea in my head for a while, and last chapter didn't seem to fitting for this. Short but sweet, right? Alrighty, I'll see ya when I see ya!
