"We saw you, Talia. We could easily tell the police if we really wanted to!"

"You wouldn't really do that, would you?"

"Yes, we would! No, we wouldn't!"

"Exactly. You'd be too busy squabbling with yourself to tell anyone!"

"Whatever. Let's go, Yuri. Fine, Yale. See you around, I guess."

"I was terrified!" Susan exclaimed. "I swear, if she had a weapon, I'd probably be dead. Not from her, but from having a heart attack."

"Why didn't you chase her?" Bastion asked. "You had a 'weapon' and she didn't."

"I guess I was just shocked."

"You know, your description of this person sounds oddly familiar..."

"She did seem a bit familiar to me, actually. Not like I could see her whole face, but her eyes looked like I've seen them before..."

"Maybe she's a student here. We can look at a yearbook from last year when we get home and see if she's there."

"Good idea."

"Goddammit, Talia, why?!" Micah exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air.

"Because if you're living by yourself in a crappy apartment with no job, low food, and the rent is more than it should be, taking and selling things is an easy way of making cash."

"If you don't have any money, get a damn job! You're sixteen!"

"I've tried applying for multiple jobs near my home and near school. Either I wasn't hired or I never got a call back from the company."

"I've offered you a million times before for you to stay at my house for a while, but no, you just insist on going solo. I'm practically offering you free food, free bed, and free heat."

"Will you calm down if I stayed at your place for at least a week?!"

"Two weeks."

"A week and a half."

"Deal."

Talia's POV:

I sighed in defeat. I never wanted Mic to care for me like this, but it made her happy. I never felt like I needed anyone else. I ruined my chances at friendship in middle school. I seemed all happy-go-lucky, clueless, and cute during those years just to get me a shot at being student body president. But that dimwit, Oliver somehow won with with me only getting one damn vote! I had a friend, Peter. He found out I hung out with him only to gain popularity, he was a widely-known student.

After losing him, all I did was go nuts. I had sort of a crush on him, but when he left, I felt so upset that I thought I'd never love again.

Until Micah came along.

She was so kind and generous, it's puzzling why people treated her like trash during our freshman year.

I promised that everyone who was a jerk towards her will pay for it once graduation arrives.

"Talia? Talia?" Somebody snapped in front if my face, and I snapped back to reality. "You alright?" Mic asked me. I blushed.

"Sorry, I just sorta spaced out for a second there."

"Well, the bell just rang."

"Alright."
