Chapter Thirty-Five: Summer Trip

Susan's POV:

I walked to the dock, scanning the area for Bastion. I began to worry, but soon found him near the back of a line. I ran over to him, and smiled once I made it to him.

"Hi, cupcake," he said, smiling.

"Cupcake?"

"Yup. Cuz you're my little cupcake."

I blushed and giggled. Bastion took my hand and the line began to move, meaning that we were going to board the boat. Once we were on, we gave our luggage to a few adults, and we walked up to the main area. Bastion and I sat down, and I rummaged through my purse. "Crap..." I whispered.

"What is it?" Bastion asked.

"I don't have my Dramamine."

"Don't worry, if you feel sick, we can head out by the rails and look at the horizon. Plus, I heard one of the teacher has got a box of Lemonheads. Do you have your anxiety pills?"

I rummaged around a bit more, and sighed in relief. "Yeah."

"Good."

About an hour had passed, and only one hour remained until we made it to Catalina. I had began to feel a bit sick, but I stayed quiet.

Finally, we had arrived at the island. We stopped at a large dock, and we all got our things and left the boat. Our main instructor greeted us. He brought us to the main area where most of the cabins were, the bathrooms, and the cafeteria. We were assigned cabins, and we were then allowed to bring everything to our rooms. Luckily, the cabins weren't gender-specific, so Bastion and I were able to bunk together. Four other people shared the cabin with us, so there were three bunk beds crammed into the relatively small room. Micah, Sophia, Lillian, and Taylor were already in the room, and we were awaiting the last pair. As Bastion helped me set out my blanket and sleeping bag onto my bunk, the door creaked open, and my smile faded as I saw who entered.

Bastion's POV:

As the door opened, Susan's smile turned into a look of fear and sadness. I looked over my shoulder to see who had entered, and there stood the two biggest scumbags in the world.

Dominic and Travis.

I had expected  Travis to be expelled after what he did to those innocent girls, but his parents must've gotten him out of the problem. And if only we told someone about Dominic...

"Good Lord..." Susan mumbled under her breath.

"Don't worry, cupcake," I whispered, "I'll make sure that neither of them do anything to you."

I looked back at Dominic, who scowled once we made eye contact. I quickly turned my head back and just continued to help Susan.

After everyone was set up, we went into the cafeteria for lunch. They were serving corn dogs and fries, then cookies for dessert. After lunch, we were allowed to explore the section of the island and be back in time for dinner. Susan and I decided to grab our sandals and towels and walk along the beach. As we walked inside our cabin to grab our things, we immediately saw Dominic rummaging through Susan's bag.

"The hell are you doing?!" Susan shouted.

"What do you THINK I'm doing, Sue?"

"Get your filthy-ass hands away from my things. Do you WANT me to get you expelled?"

"N-No."

"Then step away from my bag, and I may spare your reputation."

Dominic put his hands in the air and stepped away. He shot me a sour look and left the cabin.

"That was weird," I said.

"He's always been like that. Whenever he's about to get in trouble, he'll immediately step away from the situation."

"Good to know."

Susan looked in her bag. "Did he take anything?" I asked. Susan sighed.

"Just my sunscreen. Can I borrow yours?"

"No problem."

After we grabbed our things, we left our cabin and headed to the shore. We walked down the beach, and Susan held my hand.

"Why does he keep trying to interfere with my life?" She whispered.

"That's been puzzling me, too. If he cheated on you, then he should know that you're infuriated at him. He's just some crazy bastard. Listen, if he does anything even remotely close to a touch, he's gone."

Susan smiled. "Thanks, Bastion."
