Susan's POV:

One Year Before...

I sat in my new bedroom, hugging my legs and crying into my knees. I looked up. Boxes were piled in my room, and I sat on a wimpy air mattress deflating by the second. I missed them so much...It was only my first day here, and everything was already going downhill.

The pipes in the house were leaky, so we had some random dudes in our house. The paint was chipped, my room was cramped, and my closet was dark and creepy.

And, to add on to that, my boyfriend cheated on me a week before moving here. He was all I could think about.

Next month is my first day of school in the states. Luckily, we didn't wear uniforms like in England. My mom and I decided to go shopping at a mall for new clothes, so maybe things weren't too bad.

(Le Time skip brought to you by my love for this show.)

It was my first day at my new school. I wasn't ready. I wasn't ready at all. I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror. I was getting thinner, but my daily workouts weren't cutting it. Should I...? No, that's an awful idea. Just stick to your plan, Susan.

I was wearing a yellow v-neck and a tan skirt. I had also gotten my hair done, so I had a shoulder-length cut with blonde ends. I slid on a pair of black boots with a slight heel to make myself a bit taller. I was nervous and excited at the same time, the word 'nervouscited' sounded good. I was especially excited for my dance class, though. Twice the workout, twice the weight loss.

"Okay, sweetheart, you're going to be perfectly fine, alright?" My mother said.

"Yes, mom, I'll be fine."

"Alright, love you."

She kissed my head and walked away. I took in a deep breath before walking into my new school; Inanimate High.

I didn't want anything to do with this school. But, it wasn't my choice. I took in a deep breath and walked in. I looked around, students were everywhere. They were all taller than me, with the exception of a small amount if people. I had met the principle the day before, and he told me;

"Look for two boys; one has gray hair and looks about your height. The other is tall and will most likely be right next to him."

As my search went on, I began to panic. I heard the quietest of whispers, getting louder by the minute. Did I remember my pills? I don't think I did...

I looked around a while more before seeing the two guys. I sighed in relief, and walked over to them.

"Um, hi," I greeted, playing with the hem of my skirt. "I-I'm Susan, are you guys Nicolas and Benjamin?"

"Yeah, we are," the shorter one said. "I'm Nicolas, this is Benjamin."

Benjamin waved at me.

"So, we're going to show you around the school, to your locker, and your homeroom."

"Okay."

The two gave me a tour, and before I knew it, the bell had rung and it was time for my homeroom class. Nicolas and Benjamin were in my class, so I had somebody to talk to.

I entered the room, and all eyes were immediately on me. My heart started to pound heavily, but I was able to not have an emotional breakdown and walked up to the teacher.

"Um, excuse me?"

"Oh, hello. You're our new student, right?"

"Yes."

"Alright. Well, hello. Have you met anybody in this class yet?"

"I've met Benjamin and Nicolas."

"Okay, you can take a seat wherever you want by them."

"Okay, thank you."

The teacher smiled at me, and I walked over to the two. The only open spot by them was a seat in front of their table next to a boy with red hair.

The day went on, and I locked myself in a bathroom stall at least three times to cry. My new friends were nice, though. At least I had something good at this school.

It was the end of the day. I got out if my last class late, so only me and some other students walked the halls. I made it to my locker, and I saw the red-head boy from before at his locker, which wasn't too far from mine. He looked upset. Should I speak to him...? You know what, sure. I tapped his shoulder.

"Hey" I said, "Are you alright? You don't look so good."

"Um, y-yeah, I'm alright." He replied.

I raised my eyebrow. "You sure?"

"Yes..."

"Alright. Anyways, my name's Susan. I just transferred here this week."

"Oh, cool. My name's Bastion. Where did you transfer from?"

"I used to live in London. I moved during summer break."

"Wow, that's really cool!"

"Thanks! Hey, do you think we could hang out during lunch? I don't really have any friends here yet."

"Of course."

"Alright, see you soon."

He smiled and shut his locker, then quickly walked away. I could see the smile was forced. There was definitely something up with him...
