Susan POV:

I rushed down the halls. My teacher had let us out for lunch late again, and I didn't want to keep Bastion waiting. As I came closer to my locker, I heard snickering. Once I made it to my locker's hall, I sighed and saw Nicholas, Benjamin, and Kyle standing in front of it, watching something on Nicholas' phone. They looked up at me. I walked over to them.

"What are you doing in front of my locker?" I asked.

"Oh, waiting to show you this," Nicholas replied, turning his phone screen towards me. What I saw mortified me.

He had taken a video of Bastion and I after our skit.

When we kissed.

"W-What are you going to do to him?" I asked, knowing they'd probably beat him up or something.

"Nothing yet," Nicholas said with an evil grin. "We're gonna mess with you first. Kyle?"

Kyle cracked his knuckles. That was never good.

I held up my arms to protect myself before Kyle swung at me. I felt a burning pain on my wrist.

"Oh, so you can defend yourself now, can you? Try to protect yourself now." He kneed me in the stomach. I shrieked in pain, hoping someone had heard. Kyle punched me in the nose, and I fell to the floor, hitting my head. "Nicholas, would you like to have a go?" Kyle asked.

"With pleasure."

Nicholas kicked my stomach. I tried to stand, but once I did, he punched my lip. I tasted blood.

"Alright," I muttered, "that's enough." I punched Nicholas in the face. "What the hell is wrong with you? You can't hurt someone just because they're in love..." I punched him again and kneed him in the crotch. "Hey!" Benjamin shouted. After standing aside quietly and simply watching, he was now standing over me. He grabbed me by my shirts' collar and slammed me onto the lockers multiple times. He punched me once more before dropping me on the cold, hard floor. "...L-Let's get outta here, guys," he said, almost a sullied look on his face. They all quickly left. I sat there in pain, falling on my side.

"H-Help...Pl-Please..." I tried to call. It sounded more like whispers then shouts for help.

No POV:

Bastion sat patiently, waiting for Susan. She was talking longer than usual. He knew her teacher usually let the class out late, but lunch was already longer than halfway over. He decided to see if she was at her locker. He threw away his paper bag and food wrappers, then headed to Susan's locker.

And there was was, beaten a bruised, and unconscious on the floor. "S-Susan!" He called. He ran to her, and carefully sat her up and leaned her onto him.

"Susan, wake up," Bastion said, shaking her. She had a busted lip, bloody nose, and a few red spots on her face and one on her arm, which would most likely turn into bruises.

"B-Bastion..." She whispered. She coughed and blood dripped onto Bastion's shirt. "You're going to be alright, okay?" He assured her.

"Mhm..."

He picked her up, giving himself flashbacks of the first time she was beat up. Bastion speed-walked through the cafeteria to get to the nurse. "Who did this to you?" He asked. She weakly pointed across the room. He wasn't surprised at who I saw.

Nicholas, Kyle, and Benjamin.

Nicholas looked up and made eye contact with me. Bastion saw him say "Shit" before looking away towards the others.

He kept going, rushing through the doors.

"Oh, goodness, again?" The nurse asked, walking over to them.

"Yes.." Bastion replied. He set Susan onto a chair. "Was it Kyle again?" She asked, looking at Susan's wounds.

"Yup," He replied. "With two more people. Nicholas and Benjamin."

"Alright, once I'm done patching her up, I'll tell Mr. Katz."

It didn't take long for her to finish. Susan was sent home, leaving Bastion by himself for the rest of the day.

Bastion waited patiently for Susan to arrive the next morning. He wasn't sure if she would come after what happened the day before, but he soon spotted her running towards him quickly. He stood to greet her, and she immediately wrapped her arms around him. She was shaking.

"Susie, you alright?" Bastion asked. Susan looked up at him, meeting his eyes. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and her eyes were red from crying.

"Oh, Susan..."

Bastion held her tight, letting her cry. "Can you tell me what happened?"

Susan wiped her eyes. "I-I had an-another nightm-mare...When I woke u-up, I was have-having a panic attack...I t-took my pills, b-but they didn't w-work..." She continued to cry.

"Why didn't you stay home?" Bastion asked.

"Because I wanted to-to see you...You're the only one I-I feel safe around...Where the whispers can't find me..."

The bell rang.

"We better get going," Bastion said. The two walked into the school, holding each other's hands tightly.
