Susan's POV:
It felt wrong needing to leave. It wasn't my home. I was only there for a week. But something felt...off.
Bastion walked me home, holding my pillow and backpack for me.
We had shared a few intimate moments together, and every night he would hold me close and keep me warm. I always felt safe, safer than at my actual house.
I guess I'd just miss his warmth at night. My heater was broken, after all.
We made it to my front door, and I pulled out my key from my jeans' pocket. Before I slid the key into the lock, Bastion took my free hand and made me look at him.
"I'm not going to be able to make sure you're...Taking care of yourself. Please, promise me you'll take proper care of yourself?"
I sighed, looking deep into his hazel eyes. "I promise. I would never want to hurt you again."
"Hurt me? Again?"
"You looked so hurt once you found out what I was doing. I won't make you go through that again."
Bastion showed a small smile and kissed me.
"You never hurt me. I was just upset seeing you like that." He kissed my forehead. "I'll be calling you at least once a day."
I grinned. "Alright." I unlocked the door. "I'll take my things now." I dropped my suitcase by the door and took my things from his hands. I kissed his cheek. "I love you."
Bastion smiled widely and shut the door for me. I sighed and brought my things to my bedroom. As I was putting all my things away, I heard the back door open.
Odd, I thought. Neither mom or dad come home through the back door...
I looked out my window, seeing the back door wide open. A key was sticking out of the lock. I pondered for a moment before hearing something crash, and a gasp. I realized what was going on..
...Somebody might be trying trying to rob my house.
I looked under my bed and found an old golf club. I never thought I'd have to use it.
I took off my shoes to be quieter and tip-toed down the hallway and peered around the corner, golf club in one hand, phone dialing 911 in the other. I looked around to see if someone was actually there before calling the police, and there was indeed someone taking things off of the shelves and observing them carefully. They had long, brown, curly hair and wore a black t-shirt and leggings. A bit useless in broad daylight. I could tell they had something tied around their face to conceal their identity, I noticed a knot tied at the back of their head under their ponytail. I went back into my bedroom and called the police. The phone rang, and as soon as somebody picked up, my phone slipped from my hand and fell with a loud thud! on the hard floor. I picked up the phone and looked back at the livingroom, and the person and I made eye contact. They seemed to smirk under the handkerchief they wore around their mouth and nose and ran out, waving and saying "See you around!" before slinging a red backpack over their shoulder. I put the phone on speaker.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"Hi, there's been a robbery in my home..."
"Alright miss, what is your address?"
I told the woman my address.
"Okay, there should be a police officer on their way shortly. Can you explain to me what happened?"
I explained to the woman what had happened, and about three minutes later I heard police sirens. The woman said I could continue speaking to the officer, so I hung up and opened my front door, seeing a police officer walk up my sidewalk. I let him inside and he asked me what the thief looked like and what they stole.
The person had a very feminine body type, so I assumed she was female. She had lightly tanned skin, and one of her eyes was green, the other one was a brownish, almost maroon colored. She also seemed to be around the same height as me, perhaps only a few inches taller. She had taken a painting, some glass valuables, and a glass jar of coins. The police officer said they'd be on the lookout for her. I assumed she found the spare key in our mailbox.
I told my mom what had happened once she got home, and also explained why I had stayed at Bastions' for a while.
