Lillian, Faris, and Peyton waited at their usual lunch spot, waiting for Taylor.

"She might just not be here today..." Lillian said.

"No, she said she was coming late today," Faris said. "I texted her earlier. She said she had a doctors' appointment."

"Hey, guys," they heard. They looked over at Tina, who was taking her usual seat next to Faris. Lillian gasped.

"Tay! You've got glasses!"

"I know. That's why I was late today."

"You look adorable," Faris said.

"Really?" Taylor asked. "Thanks...I think I look stupid..."

"Why would you think you look stupid?" Peyton asked. "You look great!"

"I don't know...I guess I just look even more like a nerd."

"But Tay, you're an adorable nerd!" Lillian said, jumping up and hugging her. "If only you still had your braces. You'd look ten times more cute!"

Taylor giggled. "Thanks, Lili."

One Week Later...

Faris: hey, could you do me a favor?

Taylor: What is it?

F: I'm getting my braces off tomorrow

F: and I was wondering if you could be there with me

T: Really? Why?

F: neither of my parents can be there

F: mom's got a doctors' appt, dad's got work

T: Lemme ask my dad

...

T: Dad says I can, as long as I'm home by 6

F: appt starts at 11, goes till 12 or 1

T: K

T: Tomorrow?

F: yea

F: my mom can pick u up then drop us off there

T: Ok, see u then

T: Love you 💗

F: luv u too 😘

The next day arrived quickly, and Faris' mom drove to Taylor's house to pick her up.

"Thank you so much, Taylor," his mom thanked. "It's nice to know somebody's going to be there with him."

"No problem, it'll bee nice to be there with him."

She dropped the two off at Faris' orthodontist, Breeze Orthodontics, and left for her appointment. The couple walked inside, and Faris signed in, then sat with Taylor in the waiting room. He fidgeted in his seat.

"You alright?" Taylor asked.

"Yeah, I'm just nervous. I've had my braces for so long, I kind of wish I didn't have to get rid of them."

"Trust me, Fay. Once you get those suckers off, you can have all the gummies and chewy candies you want."

"Very valid point. Hey, you got your braces off in ninth grade, how was it?"

"It was very relieving once they were off. I could actually feel my teeth, and it felt nice to get giant hunks of metal out of my mouth."

The two laughed.

"Faris?" The receptionist called.

"C'mon, Fay," Taylor began, standing and taking Faris' hand. "You'll do great."

The two were taken to the back, and Faris sat in one of the seats. The orthodontist came over.

"Hey, Faris! How're you doing?" She greeted.

"Good. Kinda nervous, though."

"Oh, don't worry. You'll love getting your braces out. Think of all the gum you can have."

He smiled. "Exactly what she said," he said, pointing at Taylor.

The orthodontist began to work, removing the wires, then began on the brackets. Faris squeezed Taylor's hand with each bracket. Once all the brackets were out, she began to sand down the glue from applying the brackets, and once she was done, Faris had small tears pricking the corners of his eyes. They began his impressions, and once he was done, he glided his tongue across his teeth.

"How does it feel?" Taylor asked.

"Weird, but so much better!" Faris replied. Before the two left, the dentist said that his retainers would be ready in two weeks. He thanked her and left, waiting outside with Taylor for his mom.

Two weeks had soon passed, and Faris walked up to the school, pressing his lips together.

"Hey, Fay!" Taylor called, walking up to him. She cocked her head to the side, seeing Faris' mouth. "Is something wrong?

"Um...N-No.."

"Then why are you pressing your lips together? Like you're hiding something."

"...Because these retainers gave me a damn lisp..."

Taylor stared for a moment, then giggled. "Faris, your lisp is the cutest thing I have ever heard."

So to clarify why Faris seemed to be in pain during his braces being removed

Breeze Orthodontics is an actual place I went to for when I got my braces (before the original ortho retired, it wasn't called that before), and when I had them removed, my dentist wasn't too careful. I was in pain for nearly the whole time. I decided to add in my orthodontist because she is a very nice person to her patients, just a bit rough when it came to tightening my braces and removing them. I don't hate her, but I don't really like her either. I bet when others have gotten their braces removed, it didn't hurt at all, but I just had a not-to-careful orthodontist. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed, and I'll see ya when I see ya! Buh-Bye!!

(also Fan's lisp is the cutest thing like holy wow)
