Chapter Thirty-Nine: Prom

Hi, all! I sincerely apologize for my month-long hiatus on this book. I had no ideas for what to write, so I will force myself to write this chapter. Plus, I'm officially a Freshman tomorrow. I'm scared. Also, the next chapter will most likely be the last chapter. On to it, then!

Lillian and Peyton sat at lunch, holding hands and staring deep into each other's eyes.

"Peytie?" Lillian began.

"Yes?" Peyton replied.

"I've got a very important question to ask you."

"What is it?"

"Um...I-I was wondering if...You'd l-like to go to prom with me?"

A bright smile tugged at Peyton's lips. "Of course! I'd love to, Lili!"

Lillian smiled. She kissed Peyton and sank into their arms.

Faris paced back and forth, reciting lines in his head. As he walked, he heard footsteps from behind him. He immediately turned around and saw Taylor walking towards him with a smile on her face. Faris wiped a bead of sweat from his eyebrow as Tina made it to him.

"Hey. You wanted to talk?" Taylor said, a smirk on her face.

"Um, y-yeah, uh..." Faris searched his mind for the words he was just rehearsing. "I-I was w-wondering..I-If you would-"

"Want to go to prom with you?"

Faris sighed and scratched his neck. "Yeah..."

Taylor wrapped her arms around Faris. "Of course, Fay."

Faris smiled and sighed with relief.

Susan kissed Bastion goodbye before heading home. As she walked, she heard someone behind her. She thought it was nothing, until someone tapped her shoulder. She turned around, and to her surprise, Dominic was standing there with a bouquet of red roses in his hand.

"Hi, Sue- Er, Susan."

"What do you want, Dominic?"

"Uh...This is gonna sound super weird, but I was wondering if you'd like to go to prom with me?" He held out the bouquet for Susan to take.

"Oh, Dominic, of course I will..."

As she went to grab the flowers, she threw them out of his hands.

"Not! You torture me and give me nightmares, then expect me to go to prom with you? Go with your friends, I've already got a date. Goodbye." Susan turned around and kept walking.

Standing underneath dim lights, and soft music playing, the students danced with smiles on their faces. Sophia and Micah, Oliver and Page, Peyton and Lillian, Faris and Tina, Susan and Bastion, and many others. After a few hours, it was time to announce the prom king and queen.

"And this year's prom king and queen are..."

Everyone stood nervously.

"...Susan and Bastion!"

The couple smiled widely and hugged each other tight. They walked onto the stage, with tears forming in Susan's eyes. Although their were boo's and rude shouts in the crowd, the two didn't listen. As the crowns were put onto their heads, the students who weren't being jerks clapped and cheered for them. Once they were off the stage, Susan jumped into Bastion's arms, and he spun her in the air, and the two kissed, holding each other dearly.

There you have it. I apologize if you think it's to short. Next chapter with be the Epilogue (I hope that's the word) and after that, a sneak peek of the new book.
