Blue Without You

Running of the Blues

I feel myself running.

I press my heals against the ground and propel myself away.

I ignore the screams coming from the kitchen.

My hands press against the screen, causing it to creak with pain. I don't even know where I am going, I am just running. I scan the line of trees, my heart pounding in my chest. I hesitate for a second but I realize what I need to do. I run to the tree line and yell:

"Luke!" Silence trails through the Forrest for what feels like hundreds of hours upon days. I spin around when I hear crunching sticks, Ash stands behind me.

"You are an idiot!" He yells his face full with fury.

"I am not! Shut up! I need to find him!" I scream and look over on the tree line again. I see a flock of birds flutter above the tree line to my left. I sprint towards them. I trip and fall multiple times, my hands covered in mud and blood by the time I burst through brush and into a familiar opening.

My mouth ceases to move. I knew they were over here. They have to be somewhere. I scan the trees and look for anything that could've been familiar.

I am studying the opposite side of the lake when I feel a force grab onto my throat. I struggle to breath, pressing my palms against my throat.

"Aww look who's here to save the day..." I hear a familiar voice chuckle. Clarence waltzes out of the tree line in a pristine white suit. "You can't save yourself." He says sneering.

"W-Why do y-ou do this!" I cry out, my voice breaking agaisnt the pressure against my throat.

"Oh darling, you are so naive. Your powers have just began to devolp, and if they get stronger they will let me go, and I will die. You know they give you imortality right! You could live forever and I am not ready to die." He snarls pressing his clenched hands closer together. I let out a tiny squeal as the pressure tightened.

I felt myself go flying through the air, my head slamming agaisnt a tree, and everything went black.

I feel a hand brush agaisnt a cheek. My heart flutters as I roll over. Blue eyes look sweetly over at me. Ash presses his hand agaisnt my chin.

Hello beautiful. His voice says hauntingly. I try to wiggle away from his grip but it tightens around my neck.

"You sound different..." I whisper pressing my hands against his hand, trying to pry it off of me.

Don't resist, you need me. He growls. My chest shutters.

"P-please don't hurt me." I feel my voice shake.

Slowly his face melts, the strong beautiful gaze Asher has, and turns into the beady eyes of Clarence.

You will love me. He says standing me up.

"I could never love a monster." I say pushing him away, were he slides onto his butt. I blink and see the figure morph into Luke.

"Luke are you okay!" I scream crawling forward.

His mouth opens and a screams pierces the air. The gravely voice of Ash, the growl of Clarence and the pain tearing Luke's voice blurs together.

I crumple to my knees and curls up into a ball. But the voice gets closer and louder, then stops all at once.

"Sky?" I hear a voice coo. "Sky?" the voice repeats.

I open my eyes, but the light floods into my eyes and I shut them quickly.

"Is she okay?" Autumn says to my right.

"She has to have a concision." I hear a male voice grumble, but I can't tell who's it is.

I open my mouth to speak but all that comes out is a squeak.

"If she can't talk, she can't walk. Can you carry her back to the house?" Autumn says.

"Sure." The voice says sweetly. I feel hands grip around my back and under my knees. My hands, which was feeling the cool earth underneath, now only has the air to attempt to grasp into.

After a few attempts, I pull my hand up to my stomach and press it against the persons chest.

"Who." I whisper.

"It's Luke." I feel his chest vibrate as he spoke. Thank god he's okay.

"Clar-"

"He's gone. You're safe." I nod.

My head leans against his chest, and I start to fall asleep. After a while my mind starts questioning what happened.

What happened?

Is Luke okay?

What about Autumn?

Ash?

Where did Clarence go?

I hear the screen groan open and Luke sets me on the couch.

"Sky can you open your eyes?" I shake my head but I attempt. Luke hovers over me, his hazel eyes concerned and pinched. A bruise starts from his cheekbone and trails down his jaw.

"Are you okay?" He says.

"I-I'm fine..." I look slowly around the room and I'm trying to take it all in. Autumn is still sobbing on the ground and rubbing the white tile floor with bleach.

Luke sits down next to me on the couch.

"Do you need some ice? You hit that tree pretty hard..." He says rubbing his hands softly on my temple.

"Yeah....but what happened?" He sighs and looks over to Autumn, who seemed to have been listening in. She nods and walks over.

"Well you ran off," She starts. "Luke was on the ground when I ran into the clearing. You were pressed against the tree and Ash..."

She trails off. Luke presses his hand on her shoulder.

"And Ash...? Where is he?"

"Clarence took him."
