Chapter 4: the divide between people

(December 28th, 21xx) [Abel city housing district]

Right now I'm outside applying to go to a community service program to give necessities to others like food, water, clothes, books, housing, etc. I really want to make the world better for everyone. So for about a month, I will be doing community service, after that, I will try to find a job revolving around helping others. I don't want an office job or a job that is a waste of my ability. I want to help others not a company and I'm really excited to help volunteer for this project since it will help many people. It also gives adequate school supplies to those who are young and desperately need it. And later on, I'm going to the library to borrow some books.

I come up to one of the stands and ask "Is this one of the future is for you foundation entrance stand?" They respond with a unruly tone "Yeah! What is it to you, Reploid!" I tell them "I'm here to help volunteer for the event." They laugh at my face and say "Reploids aren't permitted to volunteer. Your kind isn't isn't welcome here!" They slam the table as hard as they can while gritting their teeth. I back up and walk away from this place. Wh... why were they angry at me and why do they hate Reploids?" I decide to go to the library to cheer myself up.

[Abel city library]

"I'm sorry but we don't serve your kind here. I don't know why but we can't. Hopefully we will change that policy so that everyone can join the fun of reading!" I reassure her "I think one day we will. hopefully soon." As I begin to leave some one in a builders outfit comes to me yelling "YOU RUINED MY LIFE YOU SOULLESS FREAK!" They raise their fist ready to strike me. I calmly ask "wh...!" I barely finish the word before they try to strike me with their fist! I dodge out of the way and before they could try do throw another punch. the person I spoke to leaped and restrain them as best as possible! "Go, now! I don't know how long I can hold him!" I hesitated but I find that if I stay everyone could get hurt and so I left.

[Dr. Cain's apartment]

I walk up to the door and knock on it. After a while it opens up and I see the man himself! They say "Hello, X. How's your day at the event?" I depressingly say "Not good, they won't allow me because they think I'm a Reploid. Same thing happened when I went to the library, but, a person tried to fight me thinking that I ruined his life. Why? What is going on?" Dr. Cain shocked by my story says "Oh, no! I knew it would happen. I... I think I made a mistake... I'm sorry X. I thought the counsel would legalize your rights but they made it worse! They think of you as tools to be used instead of people!" It took me a while to process. Then I ask Dr. Cain "Why!? Why do they think that? Did you try to rectify or implore them to give us rights?" Dr. Cain shakes his head. And says "I did make an attempt to try to give you rights but I'm no lawmaker and I'm not a part of the council. I couldn't do anything to help. I'm sorry X." I look away for a moment of thought then came back and respond "You did your best. I bet I neither could do the same in convincing the council either. Don't worry doctor nothing good comes without effort. We will get our rights eventually I just hope it happens peacefully." Dr. Cain looks up at me inspired and responds "Yes. You're right! Us humans had a lot of rights movements before we got to what we are now. Thanks my boy I needed that. All it'll take is time and hardship before it happens." We both nod and look at the night sky hopefully looking towards the future.
