Chapter 22: chameleon's last colors

(July 10th, 21xx) [Abel city forest]

I'm at the hideout of sting chameleon. I'm getting ready to face them. Hopefully, I can turn them over... but I don't think they will. After my failure of attempts I think I might have to kill them.... let's do this! I go to the room where sting chameleon's exact location and all I see is nothing but a room with spikes on the roof. But I feel a presence nearby and sting chameleon can camouflage themself in any environment. I have to keep on guard in case I get attacked. I hear a rustle behind me. "Agh!" Before I could react I feel a sharp pain on my back! I turn around and shoot, but, I didn't hit sting chameleon. I look around desperately, hopefully, to see some kind of indication of where they are. But... nothing, not even a shadow! I panic and shoot everywhere... but I try to calm down since that wasn't working and I can't let sting chameleon get into my head again. I hear the same rustles going above me and I hear a voice that comes with it "You are pathetic. Who do you think you are barging in here thinking to take me on like that? Surely you haven't heard the news of Sigma's... yeow!" Sting chameleon turned visible as they fell off of the ceiling and I state "I'm against what your master stands for!" As sting chameleon stands they retort "Then you will die with the humans!" They camouflage themself before I get the chance to shoot. I stand and listen to where they might be. I hear footsteps behind me I turn to shoot but they strike me first and hard enough to stun me. When I recover I see them on the ceiling hanging by their long tongue. By the time I realize what their plan is it's already too late! The spikes from above fall down upon me! I dodge to the best of my ability but... "ahh!" A few struck me on the arms and I'm bleeding from them, but The armored parts of my body protected me from harm. Sting chameleon cane down visible and bragged "Ha, Ha, now you can't use your weapon anymore!" I look down at my arms thinking that might be true... but sting chameleon doesn't know anything about me, not even myself! I raise my buster and I fire just fine! The shot obviously hits sting chameleon since they don't expect anything from me. After the second the shot connects they turn invisible in fear. I need to finish this now! What could be their weakness... chameleons are lizards and that means they are weak to cold! I turn to shotgun ice and use the power gear charge my buster up. I finally reveal sting chameleon! But the cold didn't affect them besides revealing their location. They are shocked by what I've done enough to get a shot in. They turn invisible and they try to climb but can't. By the time they recover I shoot a charge shot upwards to give a big enough flash to have them turn visible for the rest of the fight. When they realize this they charge me as fast as they can! I fire at them continuously but they dodge most of my shots. Some of the shots connect and stuns them for a bit. But I realize that with these former
Maverick hunters, it's better to shoot charge shots they might not expect than to shoot multiple ones that might miss. Before I could get my head back into the game sting chameleon has me into a devastating grip! I can barely move, I feel like I'm stuck in an ancient death trap that tears people apart by ropes! I... I need to do something now! If I don't I'll die and everyone needs me! sting chameleon is holding my buster arm away from me, their tongue is wrapped around my neck, and they hold my other arm by the bicep. That gives me the opportunity to transform my other arm to shoot them! I fire my buster at their eye and they recoil from the blast. I dash backward to give more room to charge and shoot. I charge my buster even further using the power gear to finish the job. I say "I'm sorry sting chameleon I truly am." Then I fire the fully charge shot killing them. After awhile of reflection of what I've done, I finally report to my friends "Mission accomplished!" Then I teleport to the hunter base.
