Chapter 31: the emerald spears strike

(July 14, 21xx) [Metropolis university]

It's 6:23 am when I woke up. I'm in Clark's apartment with Clark sleeping on his bed. I look outside the window and I see a group of people in familiar green jumpsuits with a red streak walking towards the campus holding a green square bag. When they go through the door that is when I realized that they are here to destroy me and the other people who reside here. I immediately rush to warn everyone until I see a plasma bullet whiz past my head and the one who shot it said, "Stop machine! You're going nowhere." I look towards the source of the voice and at the terrorist himself as he prepares to fire another round. I quickly turn to see if anyone got shot and to my horror, I see a reploid dead on the floor. I am filled with rage and I suit up into the light armor and charge chameleon sting to turn invisible. The emerald spears grunt sees this and fires three shots. I dodge all three and use the charged chameleon sting. The grunt was shocked and confused and I use this to take their weapon and restrain them with his belt. The captured spear shout for backup and Three more lackeys come into the hallway. The restrained terrorist said, "A roid turned invisible and cuffed me!" the other spears are immediately alert to my existence train their guns to where I might be. Before I could think of a way out of this situation I see Clark in a full-body outfit quickly disarm the three green-clad robophobes before they could see him and left. I reveal myself and with my speed restrain them before they could act violently. I quietly thank Clark hoping he can hear me with his enhanced hearing and I run and charge rolling shield to the sound of gunfire. When I am at the source of the sound we saw the emerald spears holding up a couple of hostages both human and reploid while a bomb was set at one of the support beams. I switch and use charged chameleon sting to take the bomb without anyone seeing me and I went outside to chuck it a safe distance before firing an X buster shot to destroy it. I get back inside to deal with the emerald spears. When I was inside I invisibly try to free everyone from their shackles after freeing a few from bondage my invisibility wore off and they saw what I was doing and fired their plasma rifles at me. The bullets sting a little but I'm mostly fine but it's those who can die from this I worry. I try to protect those in the crossfire but a few were shot. I charge at the terrorists taking their weapons forcibly before anyone else can get hurt. I also use the cuffs used for the hostages on them to keep them from harming the others. I went towards the ones who are injured to try and help but I can't. I untie everyone in the room. They show their gratitude. as the police arrived to take to grunts who caused this is when I realized that two people died in our scuffle.  My heart aches and my eyes burn at the lives lost due to me not being more careful. Clark comes to meet me and asks, "Are you alright X?" I answer back with, "no. I'm not. Two people died while I confronted the spears! This is my fault!" Clark stops and looks at me with shock and surprise. It took Clark a few long agonizing moments to speak to me "X, you can't blame yourself for their deaths. Trust me, you can't save everyone even if you think you can." I look into his words and I understand it. I respond "But it doesn't mitigate the fact that innocent people died today. But... You're right. We need to stop the Emerald Spears before they take more innocent lives."
