Chapter 27: the plan to unite

(July 13th, 21xx) [metropolis]

Dr. Cain processes the information that his greatest creation, Sigma, was the one responsible for the deviation of Abel city and that he started a revolt against humans. He is shaken to the core and starts to fall. I catch him before he hits the floor. "I'm so sorry about what happened! I wish I could have prevented this travesty and I wished that things could've gone differently!" I tell him while sobbing with every word. After a few seconds, we stood up and looked at each other in the eye as Dr. Cain asks me "Did you take care of Sigma at least? And... Where is Zero?" I wince at his question about Zero but I try to answer both "Yes I've taken care of Sigma. But Zero....... He died giving me a chance to live and defeat Sigma." Dr. Cain is also shocked by this news and he holds his chest lightly as he looks at me with sorrow and sympathy for he knows how much Zero means to me. We stopped talking for a little bit as we reflect on the loss of Zero. I speak first. "I heard that the government is considering discontinuing reploid production. this true?" "The government doesn't know much about the attack to know that it was caused by reploids! But they might do so when we disclose the information that Sigma was behind it." Dr. Cain answers lowering his head in regret. I take time thinking about possible scenarios in which this might go down. On one hand (the more likely scenario) the government might terminate reploid production and hunt us all down. The less likely hand is that they would continue reploid production but would severely limit more of the little freedom we have or make us significantly weaker. I hope it's the latter of the two scenarios. I Speak up "Maybe we can do something about this! I think we can try to convince the government that we aren't all mavericks and that many of us are good and that we want to live with the humans in peace!" Clark nods and says "How would we do that? If the population knows that Sigma destroyed Abel city they would demand that reploids be terminated! We are the underdogs in this situation and we have to be careful about what we do in order to keep reploids around. I don't know what to do to help! I'm just a college student. I have no influence to help." I respond "You do have influence! You can help us convince others that reploids should stay. I'm just like a reploid so it would be harder for me to convince the humans when the information of Sigma's war will be public and Dr. Cain created reploids so if he tried to convince them he'll be like a corrupt person. But you can convince them because they think you are just like them! You and the Parker family will rally up those who believe that reploids should stay and try to convince those who oppose us while I'll try to rally the reploids in protest so we could bring our message to light." Dr. Cain adds to the discussion with "I'll try to use my influence and pull some strings to help!" We all nod as we watch Dr. Cain leave for his meeting with the government.
