Chapter 28: the truth revealed

(July 13th, 21xx) [Metropolis city streets]

Everyone is silent as they watch the nearest tv for the news of what happened to Abel city as they stare with dread, sorrow, and anger. Due to this, they want someone or a group to blame for the death and destruction of loved ones and homes. If they realize that the organization and the leader of the organization that is supposed to protect them from mavericks became mavericks themselves. The people will riot in anger and fear against us! They will storm the capital to protest reploid discontinuation and some will attack us in hatred for what Sigma and his army did to us. I even think there will be more people joining the emerald spears and there will be more attacks against us. Why must you go maverick Sigma! Things were getting better for all of us! Now you created a giant rift between us and the humans due to your war. Will all reploids go maverick and try to harm humans due to discrimination or feeling superior to humans? A familiar hand and voice reach out to me "X, you alright?" It's Clark. I try to reassure him "I'm fine, Clark. It's just... I'm frightened by how everyone is going to react when they reveal that Sigma is the one who destroyed our home. And I'm afraid that there will be more dangerous attacks from the emerald spears... And the government potentially shutting down reploid production..." Before I can continue Clark interrupts me "Woah, Woah... X, calm down! It's going to be fine! We're here for you. We're gonna fight all of this together! We won't let the reploid discontinuation happen. There are plenty of people who were saved by reploids so not all of them are evil." I look at my friend stunned by his words and take a mental deep breath reassured by his words. I say "Thanks, Clark. I appreciate it. But I still can't shake the feeling bad predicaments will happen after the revelation of Sigma's involvement is brought to light." Clark sighs at my response but nods in agreement. We hear the news come on with Dr. Cain at the forefront with a few stacks of paper in his hands. Dr. Cain speaks with a heartfelt tone about the destruction of Abel city and what many people had to go through. Then he stops for what feels forever... Then he says "I have a heavy heart for what I am about to tell you will change the way you look at reploids forever. Sigma the former leader of the maverick hunters himself went maverick and created the disaster of Abel city. They along with many former maverick hunters have gone maverick and the remaining hunters X and Zero have eventually defeated Sigma and his legions with Zero sacrificing himself to stop Sigma. We will continue reploid production but we will keep a close eye and tighter security on reploid production to keep the public safe."
