Chapter 5: origin of the maverick hunters

(February 16th, 21xx) [Abel city Downtown]

It's been 2 months since dr Cain revolutionized the world with his reploids, they are everywhere, and they have done great for everyone. But, I don't know my purpose. and I've tried to find it, but either I'm not allowed to work in particular jobs due to humans saying no to me because I'm a "reploid" or I'm not registered with the jobs that a reploid would do, because I'm not registered to the government. It drives me up to the wall with nothing but frustration, how am I going to find a purpose now, how I'm I going to continue to make the world a better place if I can't find a purpose!!!

[X's apartment]
I go back to my apartment dr Cain brought me so I can start on my own life like other human adults, and I chose to be independent of dr Cain, I love him like my father, but I need to be independent, I can't let my life be dependent on someone, but, I can visit him anytime, which is good, I absolutely need some emotional support right now, but I am going to contact dr Cain for he has something to show me. As I open up my chat room, Dr. Cain showed me something horrible. I look in horror of what happened here. I see three destroyed reploids and dead humans with carnage around them "This is horrible! what happened here?" I said with tears in my eyes. "I can't believe what I'm looking at. Dr. Cain explains " This destruction was caused by a rogue reploid, the military destroyed the reploid but the reploid caused so much damage to both the military and the citizens around it." I ask "Why? why did they do it? why would they Hurt so many people?" I said with worry "I don't know, but, because of this incident the consul are going to have a word with me later today, and they are not happy." dr Cain tells me " When does it start." I said with utmost fear. "In 2 hours, you wanna come?" Dr. Cain asks with great curiosity. "Yes, I'm worried about this, I hope they don't try to cease production or destroy the reploids." Dr. Cain worryingly said.

[ meeting hall]

I'm at the meeting hall where many reploids and humans join as viewers, including myself. they are about to begin so I have to listen, I hope we win. "Somebody has to answer for what has happened today, Dr. Cain. The reploid products you introduced to the world are beginning to run amok. Can YOU explain what's giving rise to these... Mavericks?" The senator sternly says to Dr. Cain. He responds with "There've been only three instances so far. It is although too many instances but not enough to discern a pattern or cause. It could be any number of reasons: faulty wiring in the brain, bugs, glitches with their code, or maybe it is how they are treated. Why do some choose to hurt others? Why do they act in criminal behavior? Why now have they begun to act irregular? Reploids are extremely new to the world, I don't think we have the answers yet. Until then I have a proposition to make! I propose to the government an anti maverick task force that will protect human and reploid alike from those Mavericks who want to harm us! I present to you the maverick hunters!" A line of reploids come out one by one to the stage until the final reploid comes out and its Sigma?! Dr. Cain continues. "The maverick hunters will police their kind and respond to any maverick outbreaks to help those in need and will rehabilitate those who commit the crime." The senator responds "I like this maverick hunter task force. But I will only fund it under one circumstance. That the maverick hunters destroy the maverick at all encounters due to how dangerous they are especially to us. Right?" The rest agrees to the shock of Dr. Cain and he agrees as well.

[Abel city, outside]

I don't like this, fortunately, the reploids aren't being discontinued or destroyed, but Dr. Cain is creating a reploid police force called the maverick hunters, which concerns me because the government made sure that every encounter with a maverick, the maverick will be destroyed, ALWAYS, there will be no negotiating, capture, or rehabilitation. That is wrong, why did they make this policy with the maverick Hunters, I Don't like this. The leader of the maverick hunters is SIGMA, Dr. Cain's first creation... why Sigma?
