As expected, he was silent.
Shocked maybe, but he kept his composure.
He seemed embarrassed,
a flush of pink brushed his cheeks,
his hand slowly running through his hair.
And then after a while,
"Yes. I did," he said without another moment of hesitation.
His eyes showed determination now.
What kind of response was he waiting from me?
I had to choose.
It can't be good to like two people at the same time.
I didn't actually know that for sure,
but I just had this gut feeling that it's a bad habit to have.
"I did too," I paused and turned around so he wouldn't see my expression,
it was an expression that meant it was painful for me to say this.
"But... I think I like someone else now."
"O-Oh, do you?" he said, I could hear that I struck a chord in there somewhere.
"I don't know if... I can like you the same way again, you know?
But I did like you," I said with the calmest voice I could manage.
"I see..." was all he could say.
The warmth of his arms, I could feel it wrap around my neck for a while.
He buried his face at the back of my hair, and we just stood there.
