The wind blew again,
a refreshing one amidst the blaring sunset of that afternoon.
"This avoiding-each-other thing,
can we maybe... stop?" he said.
It was as if the heavens lifted this ocean-sized weight off my shoulders.
That was what he was going to talk about?
Then this should be easy!
"I was thinking the same thing!" I responded —- I felt a genuine cheerfulness now.
"Good, I'm glad you understand. It's kind of awkward, you know?"
"Actually, I was just waiting for you to talk to me in class.
But now that I think about it,
why are we even avoiding each other in the first place!" I responded.
"Haha yeah. I think the rumors back then got to us.
It's like if we started talking, all our old classmates would tease us again."
"Well I was scared of that too. But it should work if we keep disagreeing right?"
"Yes, exactly. The past is past... right?" he said.
"Yeah, it's all in the past!"
However, even after saying that, there was this silence again.
But this time, it seemed painful for both of us.
