Of course, I didn’t want it to end like this.
But if I were to be realistic,
this was just a situation we couldn’t help.
No matter how hard I prayed to the gods,
our lives won’t change course that fast.
Obviously this was painful for me.
It’s the very embodiment of that saying,
so close yet so far away.
“I probably won’t be back until college,” he said suddenly.
“Ah, sou ka,” I responded, trying not to sound too disappointed.
But I wanted to be strong for myself,
and even stronger for Hatori.
“Stop acting so depressed idiot!” I yelled, making him flinch a little.
“Gomen, did I scare you? haha,” I giggled.
He turned around to look at me,
traces of his sensitive tears were erased from his eyes.
If I don’t say this now,
I probably won’t be able to move on.
