Gently, he let go of my hand,
his slender fingers sliding away from mine,
and the warmth slowly disappearing.
“Baka. This is where you tell me not to go,
Hiroshima’s pretty far you know,” he said, forcing a smile.
Ah, he’s trying hard to make it seem like it didn’t bother him.
I think after 3 years of watching him closely,
I would have known these things pretty well by now.
“Haha,” I forced a laugh. “But it can’t be helped,
if you have to go --- then I’m not going to stop you,” I added.
He was silent.
I could have sworn he would think of a witty response,
but he said nothing.
Instead he turned around, hiding his face.
“So that’s it,” his voice, deep and serious, a pinch of disappointment in the tone.
He never turned to look at me.
I worried about what face he was making behind that jet black hair.
