“What… are you doing?”
I asked frankly, fully knowing what he was trying to do.
“Baka. You might get lost in the crowd,”
Sleek move Romeo, but I’m not doing it.
“Well no thanks, we might be sending the wrong message to people,”
“Who cares what other people think. That’s always been our strategy, right?”
He then forcefully grabbed my hand,
and we stormed into the festival crowds.
Our strategy…
He was referring to whenever people would tease us about being together.
Back in sixth grade when I first sat next to him,
we got so friendly to the point where people would question our relationship.
We never said it out loud,
but it became our rule to deny all the rumors about us being together,
that it was none of our business what other people thought about us.
It was to protect our friendship,
that’s what I’ve always thought.
I guess he read my mind,
denying all the rumors was best.
But back then, I was fine admiring him in secret.
