“Do you wanna go to the festival tonight?” he asked casually.
That somehow caught me by surprise.
I found it strange to invite someone you just rejected.
“Sorry, I have plans,” I lied, feeling uneasy about myself.
“Do you now? Everyone’s at the beach right?”
Wait, how does he know that?
Ah, it doesn’t matter.
“It’s --- family plans,” excuses again, nice move Aiko.
“Baka. I can tell when you’re not telling me the truth,” he seems unfazed.
Oh great. Why do I keep forgetting my curse of facial righteousness?
First Akimoto, then Kurosawa, and now even Hatori.
They can all tell I’m a bad liar.
I guess it really is written all over my face, huh.
I wasn’t sure what else to say so I reverted to silence.
Then I took my cart and started to walk away.
And then, as if I was a puppy on a leash,
he completely stopped me in my tracks when he grabbed my arm,
forcing me to look at him properly in the eye.
