Chapter 35: What a Stupid Super Hero.
I stood in the snowy park; my hands were in my pockets. I couldn't believe I was suckered into this. I can’t believe I’m in Chicago right now. Rosie called me a couple days ago and said she needed to meet up with me urgently. I couldn’t comprehend why I came here, last time I saw her I was piss drunk and we fucked in a motel room. Not the fairy tail romance. I never wanted to see her again but when I heard her voice it sounded fearful.
It’s been four days since Peasnie got the infection, she’s doing better. She’s staying at my parent’ house while I’m here. All they know is its business that I needed to deal with. They don’t even know the truth between Matt and I. I’m not going to tell them, they’ll badger me into letting Matt be her dad. I’m her dad, always have been and always will be.
I sat on the swings in the vacant park, my new black boots dragged on the icy ground as the light fluffy white snow fell from the bright grey sky above. I hands were crammed into the deep pockets of my black trench coat, for some reason I had the engagement ring I was going to give Lacy in my pocket; I fiddled with it pleasingly. My black jeans had light, fluffy, white snow flakes resting on it. I shifted my gaze around the empty park and kept my breathing calm; the hot air clung to the cold, snowy air around me tightly.
I pushed my glasses up my nose quickly and shoved my hands in my pockets. My gaze lifted from the snow covered earth floor to see a small, curvy woman with long, dark glossy, curly hair framing the pail face. A wool hat was placed on her head and a red scarf was wrapped around her neck, it poked out from under the black military style jacket. Her skin tight jeans led down into light brown boots. Her dark gaze brightened when they set on me. A faint smile played her ruby red lips. I weakly smiled back at her.
“Don’t you look handsome.” She greeted in a usual way. She sat on the swing beside me and watched me carefully. I cocked an eye brow and shook my head impatiently.
“What do you want Rosie?” I grunted uneasily. Her smile faded and she sighed heavily, looking down at the ground. She knew I wasn’t in the mood to fuck around this time and so she cut to the chase.
“Remember three weeks ago?” She asked curiously. I looked at her with a blank expression and nodded in response. Of course I remember the night that I made the dumbest decision of my life. Rosie frowned and kicked the snow away.
“We weren’t being safe, were we?” She asked again. I shrugged and made a face.
“It’s not like I take condoms with me wherever I go.” I muttered back at her. Rosie sighed heavily and smirked slightly.
“You’re going to be a dad again.” The sudden words that came from her mouth made me nearly fall backwards off the swing. My heart literally stopped in my chest while my mind raced. I looked at her wide eyed, my mouth hung open briefly. I shook my head as the shock crashed.
“For the first time genetically.” I muttered sadly.
“What?” Rosie asked.
“You slept with me and Matt the same time you got pregnant, Matt’s Peasnie’s dad.” I groaned sadly, the words broke my heart. My heart broke even more when she started laughing hardily.
“Oh God Jimmy, you are Peasnie’s dad. Matt is my son Damien’s dad.” She announced yet another shocking thing about her life. I looked at her confusedly and slightly angered.
“What?!” I exclaimed.
“I needed to make sure Matt was Damien’s father so I did a DNA test, they must’ve gotten the results mixed up.” She went on and on about this. I just sat there confusedly and slightly curious. I had so many questions bottled up in my head about these things.
